We had our EVCC software updated by OC Davis at Cardigan in order to access the Tesla open chargers. It's a prefacelift model. The job was done but hasn't worked, when I rang the dealership they are trying to tell me that Tesla have now turned off access for all MGs aside from the MG4.
Are they lying to me?

Yes.

Charged this week at Trafford Centre Manchester Superchargers with no issues.

Tell them to try again.

There are a lot of conflicting statements from Tesla, from MG and from dealers... There are some posts where people called Tesla charger helpline and they were told Mg was not supported ...

I used Reading Tesla twice last Sunday with Mk2 ZS 2022. Have you tried another Tesla site or only one? Try at least another one to be sure it's not just a glitch on that particular charger.

I had troubles with Tesla app, had to restart it at least 4-5 times and took quite some time to authorise the charger and get on with it ...

Have you paid for the update or it was free?

The only confusion is from MG contact centre staff that don't have the full information, or dealers that aren't reading the bulletins from MG.

Facts are, there are fixes that can be applied. If your car is fixed, it will work.

I've tried two different locations now, and attempted a couple of times at each. the dealership charged the job to MG as warranty work.
If you are definitely using an open Super Charger location, then I would put it to them they haven't applied the updates correctly.

Look for the thread on here that describes what basic updates are needed for each model. Some cars need hardware.

if it’s a prefacelift model it’s a mk1 which I believe isn’t compatible with Tesla super chargers.

If it's warranty work, it needs to 'work' ?

There is a fix for that also apparently. Check the thread with Miles' comment that states the various combinations across the different models...

Do we know which EVCC versions support the Tesla supercharger network... (I saw a post on the MG5 forum where the community had figured them out)?

In the end, it doesn't really matter as the dealer should just be fixing it.

It shouldn't be the customer's responsibility to know how to fix a thing when it's broken.

In an ideal world, sure ?%. But since it's possible to figure these things out and be somewhat self reliant, why not put in the effort, for those inclined?
Sure, but there is no self reliance involved here, as unless you access to download the updates and apply them yourself, it's essentially useless information.

The dealer should be reading the bulletin provided by MG, and applying them as instructed to fix this specific issue. Some cars also need hardware changes, so this is not in the scope of control of the customer with an under warranty car.

I think it has some value: you know whether or not it's worth shopping around for a dealer who will do the update for you.

I'll agree it's not a lot of value.

I tried to charge today at an open Tesla supercharger (I assume that it was an open one, as it appears in the list on the Tesla app, and the app ‘knows’ I don’t have a Tesla). Anyway, I got the car not detected message.

I shall list it for ‘fixing’ when my car is next serviced.

Incidentally, I noticed that MG4s seem to have had lots of infotainment updates - have there been any for the ZS? I think mine is still R16 from new.
