Is the PFL SR still a no no for the tesla update, by software update alone?

As far as I understand it from having read through most of this thread I'm afraid so.

That is excellent news. Definitely strengthens the case for others. I think the message is getting across.

Interestingly, I have just got back from talking to a dealer (not naming in case things go wrong) and after putting the car's details in the computer, said that it was due the upgrade and when asked how much, stated it was free as it is "under warranty". Car is booked in for the upgrade in a few weeks time. Fingers crossed but it does look as if the tide is turning.

Looks like the applied pressure is beginning to work.

You need a EVCC-02 unit fitted. Its by the 12V battery & labelled.

Just checked the EVCC on mine (Oct 21) and it is an 02 version. It's due for a service, so it will be interesting to see if any new edicts about the upgrade have been sent to the dealerships.

Wow. Looks like he has decided to listen to the email I sent him around mine showing him just how wrong he was. Hopefully will get easier moving forward now. A new technical bulletin allowing the updated software to be installed FOC would be a good result.

Booked in for a service on the 26th. Hopefully the Supercharger "upgrade" will be a standard software update by then.

I've just popped the front cover off and it is indeed a EVCC-02. model EVCC-02 10971602
Now to email Gary Smart, I have its third year service and mot next friday.

Good old Mr Smart is based in Dudley, there's only 1 dealer there and it is the one I will be taking my car to next week.
Unsure what he looks like but if its the miserable so and so who i booked it in with, that would explain a lot.

I'll be popping in Saturday for a quick chat.

It seems they are no longer going to be selling new MG's from now on, but focusing on afersales and service, can't say they aren't a specialist then can they.

Unsure what he looks like but if its the miserable so and so who i booked it in with, that would explain a lot.

I'll be popping in saturday for a quick chat.

It should have a build number on it and a production date. That is critical as it needs to be compatible for the upgrade to work. Post that up and that will give me a clue as to what the build is and whether the upgrade will work.

Thanks for that. That is a very early unit and its build date is about 7 months before the earliest successful upgrade that has been done on a LR vehicle that I have tracked down - a 210704 unit build 1182835 fitted to a 2022 LR.

It might work but I just have this feeling it might not. The only way to find out is to try it.

Having said that, MG have been pretty adamant and consistent on saying the SR cars need an EVCC upgrade.

This is the list of EVCC-02 revisions, build dates that I have compiled from here and other sources. Given the EVC-02 build date and number and/or the EVCC part and revision numbers obtained through the eZS app, you can get some idea if that version and thus your car is upgradable.

If your data matches - that unit can be upgraded.
If a build date is within the green ones but there is a different build number, it should be upgradable.
If the eZS data matches a green version, you should be OK as it will more than likely have a compatible EVCC-02 build.
Outside of that is unknown territory.

Hope that helps and takes some of the guesswork out of this situation.

PFL SR cars are not. MG have consistently said that these cars need an EVCC replacement. I still don't know if the SR cars had an EVCC-01 or an early EVCC-02. It is still unknown if an EVC-02 SR can be upgraded - we await m4mite's experience with expectation - as it might be possible on some SR cars. Fingers crossed but don't be surprised if the EVCC change is still needed.

I fear unless / until MG update their technical bulletin and allow the update FOC and removal of the direction for hardware change, we are simply winning battles rather than the war. Many dealers won’t want to go against MG Tech directions.

We’ve come a long way since Tesla changed their protocol though and a lot of members here have put a lot into trying to rectify it. Thanks everyone.
