Hello! I have a MG5 EV 2021 and I have a issue charging at Tesla superchargers, I call the local MG and they are saying they don’t have any issues reported and they want to book me for investigation(200£)🙄but I heard many had this issue and the car must have new software.

Hi, there are a few threads on this just use the search bar.
On my MG5 SR EXCITE I need a new bit of hardware not just software update so will cost about £1000 fitted.

Your car is going to need an update (probably only software) but I cant believe that the dealer doesn't know about the issue. It definitely doesn't need an investigation, it has been investigated to death for about 2 years.
You should perhaps consider looking at other dealers.

Thanks so much!

In my situation I've come across a bank of Tesla chargers that have 4 for Tesla Only and the other 4 will work Tesla or Any EV - It might be worth your while trying a different Tesla supercharger or contacting them directly.

In that situation I think the Tesla app shows them as out of service for us non Tesla owners.

Well it didn't and I spent some time at that - but eventually found it marked on a charging forum - so just so as others are aware.

I've just checked the Tesla app and it just says 8 of 8 stalls available - 250kW max

Which Tesla site is this ?

I have a 2024 MG5 Trophy wouldn't link to a supercharger. The app showed them all out of order as per the screenshot but there were two Teslas charging. How would I know if my vehicle has had the update?

There really isn't any way to tell other than trying it at a charger that the app says is available. (I think that Tesla sometimes reserve specific chargers by marking them as out of service in the app for non tesla owners)

Thanks Kevin. I will give them another try when I get home after the Christmas holiday

Had my 3 year service and MOT at the beginning of December and asked the dealer, Wilsons in Epsom, to install the Tesla update. Receptionist said Tesla were blocking non-Teslas because of charge card requirements changing, I asked them to install it anyway, she said she would include it on the job sheet but couldn't guarantee it would be done. No discussion about cost.

Update was installed, no charge!

Installed Telsa app, put in card details etc and went to my nearest supercharger (Denbies in Dorking) plugged in, got recognised but wouldn't charge. Left puzzled.

A couple of days later, on opening the Tesla app, it asked for the address associated with the card. My details hadn't included my address (don't know why). Put my address in. Tried the charger again today and 'hey presto', connected at first attempt and charged with no problem reaching a max rate of 56kW. I assume the first time I tried my card would not go through as there wasn't an address associated with it.

Brownie points for Wilsons in Epsom.
