Tomato Energy

My switch has now taken place but myWatts dashboard is not showing any data , after speaking with tomatoa customer service they reckon its a known issue and looking to fix it.

Anyone else had this ?

It took Johnb80 and mine 10 days to show up on myWeb. Worth waiting for though. :)

Ok mate thanks. Lets hope they are receiving my hourly reading in those 10 days as I charge my solar batteries up during the 5p/kwh rates.

My dashboard has now changed to the below so they are working on it as I speak by the looks of it.

Yep, I do the same, and it's all recorded. :)

I am looking at switching after recent issues with EdF, does anyone have an example of the consumption panel populated with some data?

Second question, any thoughts on Gas providers if I switch my electric to tomato?

Still waiting for myWhats to update to show my data.
It seems to take 7 to 10 days for MyWatts to become operational but then it updates almost live. Im just working on sucking the live data into Home Assistant having now got the timing issues (my fault) sorted out.

NB phone apps such as Hugo and Loop can monitor the exact Smart Meter usage by the half hour i.e. the modern smart meters seem to transmit their data to a central database, and your supplier pulls the data from there, as can Hugo/Loop.

This gives you the data, if you record it, to challenge your elec supplier if required. As others have noted, the suppliers are slow / inconsistent at recording and displaying it, albeit the bills seem right (with eOn). In fact it was eOn being useless at displaying the usage who recommended the Loop app. Hugo I find better since it is kWh to 2 decimal places, not 1.

Installed the Hugo App and got to the section where it asks for your energy provider and Tomato Energy is not on their list.

What did you put in to get the app to work?

Try using your previous supplier? Or any supplier! Does it ask for the MPAN which I think would be more important... I guess a supplier might only be needed for it trying to get a tariff?

On my Hugo I cannot see my supplier in the settings? Just the MPAN and address in a strange format all the elec suppliers seem to use.

@ljw2k

Same problem (no listing for Tomato Energy) so have emailed Hugo support to ask about this.

@andyMG4

Yes, the MPAN is listed but I think to gain maximum benefit (and information about actual consumption and costs) from the app it does need to know who your supplier is and therefore what the tariff is.

It seems that, without entering the supplier's name, the app cannot be fully set up. Understandable, I think.

Would agree, except neither Hugo nor Loop ever had the correct eOn tariffs available.

As above, I do not think it needs to know your supplier for consumption - they get the info from the same place your supplier does if my theory is correct...
