Whilst looking for a business energy supplier I cam across Tomato Energy that absolutely blew all of the others out the water with their quote, so I've signed on the dotted line. I have taken a look at their tariffs for domestic supplies and they're very competitive.

40p Standing charge
5p for 6 hours off peak
23.16p peak
13.37p 09:30 to 11:30 & 22:00 to 00:00
No exit fees.
No restrictions on EV or EVSE all timed.

I'm seriously considering moving from Octopus with these prices, they're well worth considering

Tomato are currently subject to an OFGEM investigation AFAIK:

Ouch. I'd certainly be a bit wary of a company I had never heard of. At least Octopus is a known quantity. But then, I could be snared by a cute cartoon tomato that did cute things on their app...

Tomato are currently subject to an OFGEM investigation AFAIK:
"Ofgem is investigating whether Tomato Energy Limited is in compliance with Standard Licence Condition’s (SLCs) 4A and 5 of the Electricity Supply Licence. This is as a result of concerns over the provision of data under the Energy Price Guarantee.

These SLC’s relate to Operational Capability (SLC 4A) and the Provision of Information to Authority and Data Retention (SLC 5).

Tomato Energy Limited is a UK based domestic and non-domestic utilities supplier based in Hampshire.

The opening of this investigation does not imply that we have made any findings of non-compliance by Tomato Energy Limited."

Nothing to lose, no risk really. We pay for electricity in arrears so what's the problem, where's the risk?

@johnb80 bit confused, you say that you're signed on the dotted line, then your last sentence says that you are considering moving from Octopus ?
First sentence says it all really "Whilst looking for a business energy supplier I came across Tomato Energy that absolutely blew all of the others out the water with their quote so I've signed on the dotted line."

I'd just rather wait and see how they pan out No hiking prices once they have people hooked, not suddenly ceasing trading, that sort of thing. Probably pure paranoia. Also, I've only been with Octopus three months and I'm still learning how to navigate the export tariff as of ten days ago. Change one thing at a time.

Besides, I'm a sucker for the wee pink octopus.

Entirely your choice

No hiking prices once they have people hooked,
If they do that then I leave, no exit fees

not suddenly ceasing trading, that sort of thing
Again, no issue, if they cease trading I win, payment in arrears

Probably pure paranoia.
Maybe, or maybe I'm blasé about it

You can do the change without affecting your export tariff, import and export are completely independent.

Change one thing at a time.
No problem with that, 5p kWh is a good price as is their standing charge at 20p less than Octopus.

Besides, I'm a sucker for the wee pink octopus.
Aye, my Grandson, Wilf would be in full agreement with you. He enjoys the large Constantine we have, it's his goto cuddly toy as soon as he arrives.

You make no mention of your SEG rate. Intelligent Octopus Go gives you 15p for export as an Octopus customer. For 5 months of the year I don't pay any electric bills, Octopus pay me!

Regards, Chris.

Yes I do get 15p from Octopus too. Youre free to use any supplier for your export so I assume I can shop around and find similar prices if Octopus dont want to continue receiving my export.
