I have a bit of a problem brewing I think.
I'm due to collect my car tomorrow, but it seems the registration number is not on DVLA's database when I go to check it.
What's my legal position if get stopped on my way home?

It isn't registered until you collect, and funds are cleared, I got them to sort out the wrap around insurance for 24hrs with MG also as was a pain in bum waiting on the phone for the insurance company to answer to change over from old car

As above, the vehicle is registered on collection. It's all done online by the dealer and goes through very quickly. My V5C came through about a week later, showing the date of registration as the collection date.

I didn't have any insurance issues as I haven't had my own new car for years - I came from a company car.

Ah, I feel a little better now. I thought the dealer would have already done the registration, as I have had the registration number for a week and all the funds cleared at the same time.
I didn't even think of it until I went to register the car with our local council in order to be allowed to access the local recycling centre! The first job the car has to do is to take an old rowing machine to the tip - glamourous eh?

Hi Bernie that was the position i was in. I had to get the insurance company to manually add he car to their system . When i got to the dealer and paid up, all the registration docs were ok. Apparently the dealers are given list of reg numbers that they allocate to their incoming stock.

If in doubt, try here:

That's where I checked Ian. My reg number's not on there yet. I'll check again tomorrow night when I've collected the car. It does say that it could take several days to update though.
It's just the NPR cameras I'm wary of until it gets on the DVLA database

As long as you have your sales invoice then there should be no issues. (Doesn't stop the hassle in the meantime ... but there's not a lot we can do about that)

Just to state ... this isn't an MG-specific issue (to thwart the idiotic nay-sayers). ??

Is it a ban on any posts critical of MG now

I fail to see a single post on this forum where people have blamed everything on MG,
I have however seen some poor responses to people who have been critical for valid reasons and are quite rightly frustrated and venting Several members jumping on together to have a pop at members then all sit back and post laughing emojis at each others digs.
There was a member sent a link to another forum today just for stating he was waiting to see how another EV performed on its release. Quite obviously a hint to go somewhere else.
But hey that's ok because he was critical of MG
yet when other members start a conversation that questions MG and EVs in general he is a troll gets reported and is suspended from the forum
The same people reporting and complaining about him are a lot of the same ones having sly digs at other members, but as I said that's ok because they aren't the ones being critical of MG.
I think my time on this forum is quickly coming to an end, it served its purpose and I'm thankful for that.
There are a lot of double standards on here and it's seems that if you are critical of MG in anyway you are fair game for a smart comment, sly digs or sarcastic comment.

I personally couldn't care less but it certainly has become more noticeable of late and doesn't reflect that well on this forum

I bought a new motorhome last year. The registration took a few days after I collected it to appear on DVLA. Insurance was no problem, done online a week before it was even registered

It seems to me that if you spend too much time here the level of griping would put any buyer off.

Take the undertray. This seems like a tiny issue that isnt much if a problem and no one would notice unless they regularly get on their knees.

Anything fallen off or flapping? No?

But its become a major discussion point.

I get your point but there has been one ripped of when the member went through some standing water and there has also been some reports of whistling sounds at speed. So potentially it is an issue.

Not really the point I was making, more the digs if someone is being critical,

Here's one.

On 2nd October I took delivery of a Trophy. Initially it was fine, then after a couple of weeks my son developed appendicitis. I contacted my dealer who said that it was nothing to do with them.

Initially we left it at that, but just a few days later, on the 17th, a freak typhoon ripped off the side of our house. Naturally upset by this my wife and I had a quarrel, which resulted in my wife savagely pushing me through a plate glass window. On both occasions we contacted MG and on both occasions we were told it had nothing to do with them.

It was then that things began to go seriously wrong. I ran my car into a bus queue and was shot by a police marksman. My wife was attacked by a killer whale. My mother was hit by a meteorite and the Queen died.

That's when I contacted That's Life to speak to MG on my behalf. They too were told "sorry, this really has nothing to do with us".......

Rowan Atkinson trying to keep a straight face. ?

Mine showed on the DVLA check later in the day on collection as it will be registered on collection, the system does seem to update fairly quickly whether it be the same day or day after. It may take a bit longer for the local council to recognise it but shouldn’t be too long a wait depending on how quickly they sort their system pulling new data from dvla databases etc. Enjoy the new car!
