Ahh, just saw the other comments, already answered ^ ?
Ahh I see! Yes that's a good idea, will try that thanks ?I didn't mean dismantle anything I just meant you could see if it was the number plate or window bottom, side or top etc by working your way up the outside with a hose until you see water leaking out. That way you can tell the dealer where the leak is and test it when they try and sort it
Are they the seller of the car?In terms of dealer checking, the nearest MG dealer Arnold Clark has said they don't have any appointments until June, which seems ridiculous to me... so not really an option unfortunately.
I agree with alb above, and enlectricben I agree with you you should not be trying to discover where the water is coming from on a car you have had for 5 days bloody Ridiculous take the bloody thing back I would right away.
The two small round bungs you took out they I think are meant to be there I checked on my face lifted 5 this morning and they are in there just one drain hole right in the middle, took off the the small access flaps on both side no sign of any water.

The OP lives in Scotland 2 hours from the nearest dealer and bought the car down south. (post #6)Are they the seller of the car?
I'd be tempted to park my car right outside their showroom with a big sign in the window inviting them to improve their customer service!
Wouldn’t stop me with a 5 day old car it would be straight back regardless of where it was from I can tell you. What’s 2 hours they when they have told him June for heavens sake that’s 3 months away and nice dry weather we hope sorry Gomev needs looking in to now the little rubber bungs he as pulled out at #12 have nothing to do with it they are in mine and my friends same car but no leaks as I have said before this is a light fitting on the hatch or the rear wiper that’s the problem odds on.The OP lives in Scotland 2 hours from the nearest dealer and bought the car down south. Well that is interesting... So you've not had any issues with water and they have been there! Hmm, sounds like something is definitely amiss... Thanks for letting me know.I agree with alb above, and enlectricben I agree with you you should not be trying to discover where the water is coming from on a car you have had for 5 days bloody Ridiculous take the bloody thing back I would right away.

I agree Les it needs sorting, I was merely pointing out his dilemma.Wouldn’t stop me with a 5 day old car it would be straight back regardless of where it was from I can tell you. Seems to work ok, and the liquid seems clear and not soapy, so seems more like rain than washing liquid.I just wondered does your rear wiper wash work?
With the very cold weather there have been several instance of the pipes being pushed off by freezing water/cleaner.
Is water coming from the rear washer?
Mine failed recently and provided a very good foot shower in the car!
Just a thought?
Interesting, thank for that, Ideally I'd like to keep the car, but I don't want the fault casing issues down the line, I just want it fixed. Seems too much to ask with garages and dealers apparently.FYI . Here are the rules on rejection as far as I can see :-
"
If your new or used car has a significant fault that was present when you bought it (as opposed to developing afterwards), you can reject the car within the first 30 days and get a full refund.
You do not have to accept a repair or replacement vehicle (although you can if you want to).
If you have part-exchanged your previous car on the new one, you will not get it back. Instead, you will be entitled to the full invoice price of the car (including road tax, VAT, etc).
You are entitled to a full refund by the same method in which you paid for the car. The dealer cannot charge for usage, wear and tear, collection of the vehicle or anything else.
It is the dealer’s obligation to collect the vehicle, unless your sales contract includes a clause obliging you to return the car. You only have to make sure the car is available to collect.
Be reasonable about this and work with the dealer if you want to get your money back with minimal fuss. Make their lives difficult and you can be sure they will return the favour…"
Maybe if you took a short video showing the problem and sent it to the dealer and they accepted it the could arrange a refund and collect and maybe deliver a replacement ?
If they are prepared to do so it would save a days travelling
I understand that you want to keep the car , but with that much water ingress who knows what damage has been done ? . Clearing the cause of the leak may not reduce the possibility of long term damage . I know this from my experience of long term damage to electronics due to water ingress .Interesting, thank for that, Ideally I'd like to keep the car, but I don't want the fault casing issues down the line, I just want it fixed.
