What Next?

Over the past six years I have leased 2 Mitsu Outlander PHEV's through the Motability Leasing Scheme. It has given me a very good insight into the ev world.
It is time for me to look at leasing my next vehicle which has got to be a BEV as my experiences with the Outlander convinces me that this is the way forward.
I fail to understand why Mitsu has not capitalised on seven years of PHEV development. They have even withdrawn the PHEV from the UK market.
So here is my dilemma. What do I go for next?
I am a tall guy and because of my disability need to have a wide opening driver's door and sufficient room in the boot to get a hoist fitted for my electric scooter.
Is there likely to be a larger MGzs EV produced in the near future?
I would appreciate any information.

Hi John,I see your new to the forum so welcome on board, I can see your needs and I see you say you are looking for a BEV for your next car and yeh there may be others on the way but as to when in the UK is uncertain, but you having had the Outlander PHEV and knowing the pros and cons of what that car is about the MG HS PHEV might suit your needs until a full BEV of that size arrives.
I have the MG5 and this is my findings the door opening is wide enough but is quite low I’m 6ft-1inch and have to dip my head low and well forward to get in the car but once I’m in it’s fine and comfortable but I noticed from my very first drive in the car the windscreen it not over high depending the height setting of the seat I have mine as high as I can and in that position right in the middle of the screen is this black box thing behind the rear view mirror (something to do with the rain sensors I think ) which is right in my eye line which doesn’t help with the view out at times but still I like the car in lots of ways been great so far but as in everything nothing is perfect so go and try one and see what you think for yourself hope this helps

Also consider the MG5.

Not sure a hoist would fit in the MG5 due to the height, it should fit in the HS PHEV though.

Will have a look at the 5 but think that it will be too low to the ground. Will also take a look at the zs ev as there seems to be a lot of activity on the Forum.
I checked out the Marvel R and it would be ideal but is only being launched in Europe and not the UK. I think that the UK arm of MG are missing a golden opportunity here.
I am definitely going for a BEV, the savings for me would be sufficient for me to give a healthy deposit on my next lease.

Now had the opportunity to try the 5 but found the entry and exit of the drivers door very restrictive.
Then had a look at the ZS and was very surprised to find that I could get in and out of the vehicle with ease. There was also a lot of travel to move the drivers seat back, both with the manual and electric seating.
The only drawback was that I would be unable to load my scooter, even with the rear seats folded flat. However I am now going to consult Jeff Gosling, disability adaption specialist, to see if he could fit a folding powered wheelchair as another option. If so it may be that I finish up leasing a ZS.
As I discussed earlier, I think MG UK have missed an opportunity in not bring the larger SUV ev into the UK.
Both Nissan and Skoda are launching mid sized SUV evs into the uk this year.

Hi john sorry to read the 5 didn’t suit you but I had a feeling it wouldn’t and your right Skoda do have new evs about to hit the market also VW as well but priced a bit higher than the MGs anyhow good luck in you search.

My understanding is that not only are Mitsubishi withdrawing the Phev from the UK. Mitsubishi as a whole are withdrawing from the UK market.

Yeh I’ve read the same somewhere plus my son had and outlander PHEV and sold it 18 months ago

Hi, I to am a big guy and am awaiting collection of my new ZSEV on the Motability scheme I was lucky when I had my test drive and had it for quite a while so checked out getting in and out in a range of circumstances and found it to be better than I imagined I am moving up from the Hyundai Ionic (bloody spell check) hybrid I think you will find it really fits your needs well
