Does only the drivers window open and shut with one touch, passenger windows open with one touch but have to hold the button to close!

It is like that because of safety reasons.
Safety reasons, because they did not fit windows that can sense if something is being pinched and then "reverse" a bit.

This is the first car i have owned with electric windows, that has not had windows that would close all the way, just by holding the UP button for a second and then releasing.

They probably saves 5p per window this way.

It's like the "few quids worth" valve they did not include in the climate control, to make it able to reverse the system. From what i understand this one valve is all that is needed to make if a heatpump system that can both cool and heat, instead of now, where it only cools and they need a resistive heater to do the heating.
