Would you have another MG after the MG4 ?

Would you have another MG car after the MG4 ?

Probably not because I wasn't entirely comfortable with giving money to the Chinese govt, but it depends on what else available. If the Chinese develop a massive lead in solid-state batteries then it will be hard to resist.

A no from me until MG and their dealers significantly improve the aftercare / servicing / free updates at service time of all modules & software / parts availablity and reasonable pricing etc....

Anyone know if @Brettus managed to get his Xpower repaired yet ? must be nearly a year now 🤷‍♂️

The interesting thing is that people here will stick with an EV.
Absolutely... I would never go back, unless electricity prices dramatically went up and the cheap rates all disappeared. Even then, I'd be willing to pay higher running costs to have an EV, to some extent.

MGs touchscreen/software is crap though and you end up having to tap it a few times
The screen on the Xpower I had a test drive in a few weeks ago had no lag and worked well, did what it was told to do, so no, the MG touchscreen/software isn't 'crap' at all.

Well the wife's regularly goes through spells of needing repeated touching and it would appear I am not on my own with the issue
Au contraire.

I can push a button a damn site faster that it takes to swipe down, then swipe again, because it didn't register the first time.

Press Disable LKA.
Possibly press it again as above.

Press a bloody gain, because the car wants to be 100% sure, I am willing to 'risk' being in control myself. 🤯

there is no there word to describe MGs operating system unfortunately, if it was in anyway stable OTA would be enabled.

You don't know why OTA isn't enabled apart from lots of angry supposition. The interface worked well when I demo'd the car so the 'operating system' was also working well.

I personally haven't had any issues with response, only issue I've had with the FICM is the Bluetooth
I can honestly say I don't mind the software, I'd prefer more options on the diagnostic interface but that's just because I like to tinker
I personally tend to fix any issues myself so lack of after sales support doesn't worry me
I had 3 Saabs & 3 Vauxhall so there's a chance I might get another one

You'll be right then I'll just ignore the intermittent issues with the touchscreen on our car thanks for the clarification 👍

Well my screen is very unresponsive and sometimes needs several taps to register. A moist fingertip seems to work better for me 😂

The point is that while driving you are having to look at the screen and direct your finger to the exact icon three times if you haven’t got the latest software with drop down icon for LKA. One to get to the settings, one to slide LKA off and one to confirm. All that time your eyes have to be on the screen.

A simple button can be felt quickly by muscle memory and turned off without even looking. In my mind that is inherently easier and safer.

As if there are any car manufacturers that don’t use Chinese parts. Saying you don’t want you money to end up in China when you buy something is like saying you don’t want Saudi oil in your petrol, there is no way to trace stuff like that. And even if you could trace it, there is no way it won’t come from China.

If it does really bother you, just remember a lot of Chinese steel is made from Australian and African iron ore and coal, so think of it as supporting those nations with your money.

Have owned the car for around 18 months now. Trophy model. My answer to the survey is no. Yes it was chosen at the time by me for being more on the budget end for an electric hatchback and as my first foray into owning an EV. As a general car, getting me a to b and working for that purpose it has been fine. The biggest disappointments have been a poorly put together interior (and exterior) in places (everything seems to be made of cheese and scratches too easily compared to other cars I've had of around the same value) and frequent software bugs and glitches which have dampened the driving experience. It's pot luck what fault the car wants to tell me about most days and even worse in winter now. It's not terrible as a whole package, no, but I would look elsewhere when picking my next electric car. I feel MG customer service isn't too great either with no sense of them trying to improve the experience for existing owners (eg meaningful updates etc). Not everyone will agree though and may have had a different experience.

Just out of curiosity Stuart, what car is it that you’ve had for 18 months.? It isn’t the MG 3+ Hybrid, is it , as that hasn’t been out that long.
