Yes but upgrade to xpower
I've had this discussion if they can sort out the software which I think they will eventually and just upgrade the X Power cabin/seats/materials/lighting

Get 100% rid of the vibes and better tyres I would consider getting one.

MG UK have mentioned in various emails that the X Power is one of their flagship models if they can make it feel that bit more premium then I would consider it. Even if the price rose a bit (but they kept it under the £40k luxury tax band) it would still be worth it for that performance.

At this point I'm on the fence, but that may be taken out of my hands. I went to the local dealer the other day, showroom and car park full of existing models all at full list price? No physical human shaped dealer! empty desk in the corner , filing cabinets open and empty, none of the usual advertising pamphlets in sight , waste basket half full and forlorn.???? Not quite sure how all of this is going to pan out and the subsequent ramifications for yours truly. :(

Agreed, the X Power is very nearly there, but not quite. It's still a very good car, despite its flaws. But with a bit more effort from MG, it could be Brilliant!
And for the price, even if a bit more expensive. It would be unbeatable! 🙂👍

I will be picking up my New MG ZS Hybrid+ next Friday, it apparently has been improved , and doesn’t have the same problems experienced by MG3 hybrid +. Fingers crossed.

Nice! Look forward to some pics. They do
look good. 🙂👍

As if there are any car manufacturers that don’t use Chinese parts. Saying you don’t want you money to end up in China when you buy something is like saying you don’t want Saudi oil in your petrol, there is no way to trace stuff like that. And even if you could trace it, there is no way it won’t come from China.

If it does really bother you, just remember a lot of Chinese steel is made from Australian and African iron ore and coal, so think of it as supporting those nations with your money.
Yes, it's hard to avoid goods made in PRC and I'm all for global trade in principle. My brother's comment when I bought the MG was "saving the planet and handing it over to China". But I'd prefer to buy European if there was a a comparable offering in terms of price and performance. The new Renault 5 looks competitive.

It's not got anywhere near the room in the back, fine if you don't use the back seat though

Previously after the drama I had with the airbag fault on my 4 I would have said absolutely no way would I have another MG.

Having said that now it’s finally been sorted it’s been a fairly decent car, I’ve done just over 24k in 2 years.
Another thing that does put me off is MG effectively devaluing their own cars. I could now buy a trophy or maybe even an Xpower for less than I paid for a brand new SE. I did laugh when the dealer emailed me the other day recommending it being time to think about an upgrade to a new model. Given the drop in value and as a result fair chunk of negative equity I’d have to be mad!

I think I would possibly have another but I certainly wouldn’t rush out to buy a brand new model as soon as it came on to the market again. I can’t look past the fact the cars are decent value for what you get compared to many other marques.

No.

Because I like to try different brands, not because the MG 4 is bad. It sure has flaws, but the driving experience in general is great.

If I had to change car today I would go for either Kia EV3 or Renault Scenic. I feel they are worth the higher price compared to what you get, based on Norwegian prices.

If it is things like tyres and other consumables, why not buy at the low price and spend what you saved on personalising it to your liking?

I feel there will eventually be a hack to gain access to the MG4 programming and a lot of issues could then be sorted ..... that after market reprogramming that was all the rage in the ICE vehicles a few yrs back ...... but no emissions tests to catch you out .....

Might be a good topic for another post, eh :D

I agree to an extent mate but they have banged on about it being a flagship model (X Power) in various emails, treat it like one.
They built a car with all that power give it half decent rubber to use it.

Put more supportive seats in that actually provide a secure seat so you can have fun with the power.

And two minor things design a charging tray that actually holds your phone in place and put some decent interior lights in it these are so minor but shouldn't need the customer to do themselves.

Not going to answer just yet, for me it depends on the same reasons why I got the mg4. There still isn't another affordable, small, very quick, HATCHBACK, ev. I have a dog so I must have a hatch and I don't want a massive tank like a model Y. So in 2.5 years if mg is the only brand offering a small, very quick, hatch then i'd consider getting another one. I suspect there'll be more choice though.

I'm getting really put off by a lack of care and attention (or just plain dishonesty) from MG customer services in terms of software fixes. The car is fine, and mine has had no significant issues with build quality or anything like that, but MG's inability to improve their software, whether it's the infotainment system or the still dangerous LKA, suggests to me that these are just going to be a feature of all their cars for some time to come. These are easiest to fix in terms of cost and time as they don't require redesigning parts or changing assembly processes and they just haven't done it.

I really like mine now that LKA can be disabled from the pull down menu. It is a pleasure to drive and comfortable. The interior won't impress anyone looking for premium design but it's comfortable especially with AC on, heated seats and steering wheel. An important advantage of the MG4 over some of the alternatives is that rear passengers have sufficient space for comfort. The imperfections of the car are overshadowed by the strengths.

The superior software on the Tesla and access to all superchargers is appealing but I think Teslas are not visually appealing and cost a lot for the benefits that I have listed. I am unlikely to replace this car any time soon.

At some point I will replace my wife's car with an EV and as this needs more boot space I am eyeing the Kia EV3 and possibly the MG ES5. I don't know anything about Kia customer support, software quality or service policy and will need to research this if I go that route. Whichever car I get her I will want decent handling. We have had a Qashqai as a courtesy car recently and it's like something from the stone age in terms of infotainment and handling. The engine is really unrefined too and my wife hates it. She loves driving the MG4 and likes her Octavia.
