Hi all,

Currently eyeballing the SE vs Xpower - Trying to have a deep think on whether the additional cost is worth it... Test drive tomorrow, would like a clear head before I get carried away!

I have googled the feature list differences etc. but would like to ask how you feel about the choice? Does it just come down to the BRRRRR of the Xpower or are there any other advantages or features you are glad you have / don't have?

Thanks!

Firstly,

Bob not bob. To be honest, most X Power owners go for that motor, because of the performance, simple's. The SE is not exactly a Snail, and has all the equipment you'll probably ever need. BUT, the X Power is something else!
Only my opinion of course. ??

Hi all,

Looking for some advice to make sure I have my brain straight for looking at my options tomorrow.

Putting finances asside, I'd like to ask if anyone who purchased an Xpower found that they found the novelty wore off.... Or whether the fun of drivcing it has felt worthwhile. We are looking at something like a 10k difference in cost between the SE so I need to be able to explain my tastes to the wife! Car go BRRR won't cut it.

As you can tell, the model has my eye - I'm looking for an excuse to buy it xD !

Thanks! Finding this a tough call as I have a price of 20k available from a local dealer for a new se... And 10k more for the Xpower. Very Large difference. With 5k it would be a no brainer to me!

There are new X-Powers available for ~£26k now if you shop around and are prepared to travel.

I've looked everywhere I can find. Thus far all the 26k deals have been misleading business only prices advertised to get customers in.

I'd have one at 26 in a flash if I were eligible, unless there's a dealer you have seen that I haven't?

Cheers

How are you financing?, there are dealers offering X Powers for 26 to 27k BUT not on the good finance deals available.
My locsl dealer has a 74 pre reg X Power sat in the showroom, i sat in it 2 weeks ago and it is offered at 26k, cash or on a not so great APR if they did finance.
Hendy Poole but there are others on Autotrader.

We bought ours from this dealer.

Unfortunately PCP as I'm cash poor at the moment. Just searched and and noted there's a couple cash only options. Rats! ?

My local dealer (2miles) has the SE for 20k which seems a crazy good deal. Pain in the but through as 30k seems like the best PCP price on the one that my heart wants.

Fair difference per month is making my head and heart have a falling out over this ?

Had mine just over a week, and obviously it's new and novel to me. But I can honestly say, I can't see the novelty value of the performance, ever wearing thin. Apart from being a good car. (So far) ?
And also much admired, by friends, family and total strangers. Which is nice. ??

Have you considered a personal lease ? .... not so big a difference and the Xpower is good value at the moment.

Personally I only chose an MG4 because of the Xpower model coming out - 420bhp and AWD never get boring !! ... even Mat Watson on CarWow agrees ??

There's also MG's Affinity to think about. Just join the MG Owners Club (£50 I think) and you'd be eligible for it.

Which variant of the SE for £20k? SR (51kWh LFP) or LR (64kWh NMC)?

That's interesting re the affinity, are you certain this is the case that membership grants eligibility?

You can get, X Powers now, well cheaper than the Affinity scheme. X Powers on the scheme at the moment are. £31,800
Brand new, X Powers are going for between £26-27,000. Any colour.
If you're in business, you can get one for £25,350. Insane! ???

As well as the bang for the buck, there is no other car I could afford with a sub 4s 0-60 time. I found the 25% stiffer suspension to give a better ride quality.

The only way to really tell is with a back to back test drive with at least a couple of roundabouts where you take the 3rd exit and also if you can throw in a slip road onto a dual carriageway or motorway you will get an idea of where the XPower can be a game changer.

Just drove the Xpower and Trophy. Being honest the sport mode on Xpower isn't for me. Just too much Welly that I'll have no opportunity to use on these local roads.

Eco or normal mode was a pleasure. Turns out I'm not the adrenaline junkie I thought I am.

Xpower had a slight edge in terms of it's drive and feel. And interior/ exterior changes were noticeable to me. Loved the Xpower vibe.

Am I a complete spoon if going for an Xpower and driving it on eco though ? that's what I am wrestling with.

If the price difference between XPower and Trophy LR isn't really much at all then go for the XPower just to have those beans available when you want them. If there's a bigger difference then go for the Trophy LR as the interior specs are basically the same.

OR ... consider the Trophy ER? (Bigger battery so more range, bigger motor than the LR so faster 0-60, though not as fast as the XP).
