Then what about this, while browsing came upon this. Must admit never heard of it. ? The fastest accelerating EV, in fact the fastest accelerating car full stop in the world! Mind blowing. ?
0-60 1.72 secs.
Top Speed 250 mph.
Price Approx, £3 million smackers!
Love stuff like this!
Fancy One? ??

The Aspark Owl. Even the name's cool. ?

The Tesla Plaid has slightly inferior straight line performance at 100k (1/30), and can be used as daily driver.

The roadster will be even faster and has a very nice design in my opinion. Unfortunately 250k is a bit too much for 1.7 second less than the xpower. But.... If I had that amount of money to spend I'd think about it

its interesting as in theory if u are not after range then going these speeds for far less money is doable. Power to weight, strap some lipo in and hold on :) simply grabbing a model 3 performance and removing half the battery weight and putting wider super stickies on and youll push into those brackets, its up top where its hard to compete. Over 100kmh things get harder.

But MG do have the tech underpinning the EXE181 at their disposal should they wish to translate it to a road car. < 1s 0-100km/h

WOW! and double WOW!
Sub 1 second 0-60 mph. Is that actually really possible?
So your in the car at the lights for example. You press the Warp speed pedal. 60 mph, that's it. Nobody else has actually even moved from the lights.
That's insane. ?

I'd have thought tyres would be the limiting factor.
Indeed, I imagine it requires very sticky tyres and a special surface for any normal weight car. Dragsters which can beat 0.5 seconds even have a glue applied to the track.

I have read sub 1 second equates to travelling about 40 feet!

What! So for 0.5 seconds it'll be half that or less than the length of the dragster itself (and yes I did have to check the maths before I believed it).

That would be handy for the Sainsbury's shop though, I'd arrive at least a few seconds earlier and have a much better chance of grabbing an empty space before someone else got there! ?
Like the tortoise in the story
A five will be there in its glory
No need for fancy launches
Just squat down on it’s haunches
And while fours adopt their pose
Plug straight in upon the nose.

Pretty sure the running cost for these cars on the tyres alone has got to be crazy... I'm in a 'slow' trophy and everytime I leave people standing while overtaking or getting off lights I think about my poor tyres..

Not to mention the g's you'll feel in that baby.. nice for a drive once a month probably. If these were within reach of the masses I'm afraid too many youngsters would end up in car accidents.. at least until proper high speed self driving comes along

I find that now with the MG4 SE, As I did with the Kia Soul EV I had. Look in the mirror and wonder why no-one else has moved ( and no, it's not because I imagined the light change). aaand I wasn't even trying. Took some getting used to, that one. ?

The hardest part is going back to ICE... I had to drive my Dad's car (ford focus) for the servicing and damn it felt slow

Ironically I drive a slow diesel minibus daily for a living. Such a joy to get back into the MG. Only drive it 2-3 times a week and not very far at that, but always finish with a smile, even after 5 months of ownership - extended honeymoon ??

To be honest, even with the launch starts, Im yet to induce wheel spin. (Thinks… am I doing something wrong?)

Even with brisk driving on country lanes, tread wear is negligible, so not an issue for me. However it will depend on the individual driver.

Except the cretin jumping the red light ??

you need to disable a bunch of stuff (traction control, etc) for the wheel to spin.. otherwise it's all controlled electronically

Not worth it, you'll get less acceleration and use up your tyres

On topic of tyre wear, just because the car is heavy it puts more pressure on the tyres. Additionally the high torque throughout keeps that pressure for much longer. So even without wheel spin you will use up equivalent tyres faster.
Also why proper EV tyres cost more (outside of some dampers to reduce noise). Need to bear more load and be stiffer
