Have owners seats been ok? I’ve seen a few reviews where it is mentioned and this one in particular really shows some padding/bunching issues (see around the 1:12 mark in particular). I’ve one on order and this makes me feel like long term the seats may not hold up well.

It's a shame they didn't use the same seats that are in the MG5, as they appear to be far better and look to hold up really well. I can't imagine that it would have added that much to the build costs to include those better seats

Comfort looks ok to me. The baggy is a bit surprising alright.

ya they seem better quality than those in MG4. Supposed they didn’t really.

MG4 SE Seat Fabric.

I picked up my car last week and noticed the fabric on all the seat are creased. I reported this to the dealership as defects at the time and needs rectifying. They are hoping they will ‘iron out’ over time and if not it will be looked into.

I am optimistic about this especially with areas at the top of the seats near the head rest.

Has anyone else had this issue with the seats and what was the outcome.

I am due back to see them about the rear oil leak to see if it’s the transmission oil issue and needs the modified breather fitted. I will push again about these creases in the seats fabric.

That doesn’t look great. I’m surprised it was offered to you with seats like that.

Seats (and wheels) for the special edition in Hong Kong, apparently.
Should have been the standard in the first place.

That's a lot of wrinkles. I have two on the passenger's seat, and they are really small. So I decided to ignore them. In your case, they are hard to ignore. I wonder how this made it through quality control.

I try and keep positive about the car as it’s a nice drive and looks great. But it just boils yeah blood when obvious stuff like this are overlooked.
onwards and upwards.

Aren’t the seats wrapped in plastic for delivery?
Might just need time to settle and a bit of heat to return to normal.

Looks like issues with the stitching where the 2 pieces of fabric have been joined causing it to bunch at those points. I would be annoyed with that, looks poor

Just one more "feature" to keep in mind upon initial delivery inspection.

I can't help but think they have gone just a little too far on the costing exercise and it is ruining an otherwise reasonable vehicle.

15.14 Weeks and counting

I am sure the seats are only guaranteed under warranty for 12 months but I may have misread that

I am booked in tomorrow at the dealership for them to check the oil leak and fit the breather if this is the issue. They actually have the part in stock so no need to wait for it coming in.
They will also take another look at the seats and report back to MG UK for them to decide on a way forward.

This is great to know. My MG comes this week and it's something I've been hoping won't be an issue as it's something I'll see every time I get in the car! If you get any update please post it! Thanks

I don't think that it is due to cost savings as COVID has caused factories to not work as efficiently as they normally should so anything that looks "about right/good enough" will pass QC especially if the seat supplier won't get paid otherwise. "Good enough" is the mentality of the Chinese people which is why compared to Space X, Chinese rockets don't have a mechanism to prevent the rocket stages from landing in populated areas.

Judging by various comments it certainly appears to be a cost saving, there has been a lot of comments regarding the long term robustness of the seats, also as a comparison a good few mentions about the good quality of the seats in the 5.
Certainly the MG 4 warranty would only appear to be 12 months for the seats.

Good heavens. Let's hope the MG4's lane keep assistant will help us navigate around all the future Chinese rocket debris in the streets! ;-)

Maybe some seat covers from Ali express are worth a punt they have some in the grey and black like ones in other places cost approximately £265 for the set. They look pretty good

Cosmetic trim warranty is 12 months

Are you seriously suggesting that after paying £30k for a new car you accept poor wrinkled seats and buy some seat covers to cover them up? You’re joking right? ???

All the fixes and extras soon start adding up and make the car a good bit more expensive.
It's MG's poor quality control, they should fix it
