MG4 Rumbling and vibration

It’s not right though.
And you not reporting it isn’t helping anyone.
MG need to know.
Thing is I wouldn't say (in my case) that it's much different to just about any other car I've driven over the past 35 years - at least not noticeably so. So reporting something which is "meh" is pointless (in my case).

No car should have any vibration….
None, at all.

Driving car home from dealer yesterday, I noticed noise and vibration at various speeds. The vibration can be felt all through the car, including the wheel, but there’s no visible steering wheel shake.
I would err towards wheel balance, but the rumbling that goes with the vibration isn’t something I’ve experienced with wheel balance before.
I would describe the noise as similar to when you drive over those horrible concrete sections on motorways.
Blowing up the tyres today (they were all under recommended, thanks dealer…) seems to have moved the vibration/noise over 70mph, but it’s horrible after that - anyone in the car would notice.
I’m wondering if I have a rogue tyre.
I’m getting all-season fitted on Saturday and I’m hoping that will end it, but if it doesn’t I’m lost as to what it could be…but it’s not good in a brand new car….
It could be ice on brakes/rims and tires or snow. I had that issue i went to a carwash and got it all gone and it was fine had to deflate the tires was a bit much also.

Not steering vibration they don’t.
Agree, there really should not be any discernible vibration through the steering on a new car when cruising at motorway speed, mine is intrusive and getting worse not better.

Definitely is not this as present before and after the cold snap.

The issues with my car and the other member’s car have been fixed, as per earlier posts.
On his car it was damaged tyres, on my car it was allegedly all four wheels miles out of balance.

Really pleased you’ve sorted your vibration/grumbling issues

Think you and I might have been chatting in a similar thread I started on the FB group months back.

However, whatever it was the dealer did. I guarantee the cure wasn’t wheel balancing.

I swapped the stock tyres for winter rated all seasons back in October. Naturally the wheels were balanced then by the tyre fitters. Made zero difference to the vibration.

As you mentioned in a previous reply here, the car does feel twitchy at speed with small steering corrections constantly required.
Could be the alignment that’s been sorted, but if it is the alignment that was causing the grumble through the tyres, I’d expect the acoustics of that to change even slightly just by changing tyres over given different tread patterns and compounds.

Could also be the undertray issue that they fixed perhaps.

I haven’t really been very far since the car arrived and haven’t really been motivated to get it sorted until now, but will be having another push with the dealer in January.

You could be right, the steering wheel has been slightly off centre since they fixed it, which is a sure fire sign of alignment being touched.
Hasn’t fixed the twitchiness at speed though, had a longer drive at 70mph and it’s not a stable car.
Still needs constant correction and feels like the car is being driven in high winds, when it’s actually perfectly still outside.
Glad I don’t do it often, it would be a very tiring car on longer trips.

I have the vibration at 70 , dropped to dealers got charged for tracking and balancing due to miles on car. Collected car, steering wheel off centre. No change. Dropped back they sent to a specialist company tracking and balancing way off. After collecting it’s 98% gone but that 2% is annoying me and on a long journey is tiring. Some roads you feel it more, could this be the motors ? Or aerodynamics ?

Could be a small flat spot on the tyres from standing so long during shipping and waiting at the docks. Try slightly over inflating the tyres and going for a decent run to get them warm and see if that helps.

Tyres should be overinflated for shipping to prevent this. It's a pretty standard practice and one to look out for at delivery if they weren't reduced at PDI.

Flat spotting of the tyres has been proven by one owner/dealer.
Clearly not a one off event when other cars are suffering from the same vibration.
So the balance (SIC) of evidence is MG aren’t doing what you suggest on some cars.
TBH, MG don’t seem to have much in the way of procedures, it’s all appears very haphazard.
Can’t even fit the correct rear view mirror to my car. …

That was probably my car. The tyres when removed where shown to me and defo flat spot and ridges on all tyres. Now have All seasons fitted and smooth as a baby's bum!!!
My car vibrated and rumble noise was bad. Now its great.

I’ve still got some vibration at high speed, even after fitting all-season.
And I’ve now got an off-centre wheel (which was off centre before I fitted the all season)
Vibration at 80mph isn’t really a big worry when the car won’t let me do 80 though…

Maybe your tracking needs checking again now new tyres on?
Took car to 95ish to see if any vibration....none.
