MG4 Loud bang when charger connected

So just had an update after the second try to fix it. Been waiting four weeks for a fix and its not going that well. They came to the decision to replace the CCU or some other part but there are none available so they waited to get a new car delivered to make it a donor car. Yes you heard right.... They are going to use a brand new car to fix mine. It arrived this week and here is the next BUT. They have to have the donor car and our car on the ramps at the same time so China can dial into both at the same time. Its a full day job to swap the parts so it is now getting very very frustrating.

Conversations are going to be had over the time and me paying for a Trophy and having to drive a SE SR.

I think they are really struggling to get the bottom of this problem TBA.
I totally 100% understand your frustration of course, but due to the poor availability / long wait time on replacement parts, maybe they consider this is the quickest route to get to the bottom of the problem and get you back in your car !.
Firing the parts cannon at your car is not really a option and will just extend the wait time for both parties.
My guess would be that they intend to down load the data files from BOTH identical cars, then do a direct "back to back" comparison of each data information packs from both cars.
Hopefully, this will highlight the problem in the hardware / software of your car and will offer a direction to follow / action plan moving forward.
They appear to suspect the CCU ? - If this proves correct, they will switch over this module and then see if the problem transfers from you car, over to the donor car.
If correct, you will get your car back and donor car will then be stored until a replacement part is sourced.
They are then in the knowledge that when it DOES arrive, they have a 100% certain fix and the loan car car be returned.
Plus, they have a more direct route for a fix on any other models presenting with a similar problem.

Well they tried organ transplant and found the part is coded to the car so did not work. Why did MG not know this. Feel they are just clutching at straws now. Dealer has tried things but MG have failed them. Maybe time I insist on a new car as not going to be waiting much longer for a 'oh lets try this' approach.

At least you have EV, my dealer gives me a petrol MG ZS.

They gave me a ZS the first time and said it was not an option this time as wife can only drive an Auto so could not be a manual.

I was going to buy an MG5 to replace my car but thats never going to happen after this bad flakey attitude of how to fix a new car. Buying a Mustang Mach e or megane e instead I think. Could not have another MG after this.

No word from the dealer so had to get MG finance involved. See what happens with it now. They have said they will take over communication with the dealer. Been totally ignored by the sales manager now so had to go down this line. Service department have been fantastic but sales have been another story.

Watch this space as they say. If we get a chance we will get car swapped or out of contract.

That's my experience of Cars2, sales underwhelming but servicing spot on

I'd rather have good service department. Sales only sell you the car , it's the aftersales that counts.
Yes and no, the dealer registered my car to the wrong address and then refused to help, fortunately I'd managed to find out the address and had to travel there to "recover" the v5 after neither the dealer nor DVLA would help.

Then my trade in car got a speeding ticket in the post and a car tax payment reminder after I'd part ex'd the car they'd not processed it and just sold it on, so had to send DVLA and police all the evidence of the car sale etc, and email correspondence about the part ex to not be liable.

Yes both the sales and service experience matter but you don't have to get them at the same dealership.

That’s shocking service or should that be non service from your dealer, Ayoull. You shouldn’t have to be doing all the legwork when it was clearly their job.

Yes this dealer needs to learn a lot. Would not recommend them at all. Worst sales people I have ever experienced. Will see what comes of it. MG customer service and Cars2 are well matched.....Both useless at after sales. Even though I am looking to buy another car you would think they would attempt to at least contact me.
Gun and a mask is all they need now.

The response from the DVLA was more shocking that I needed to complete a lost V5 form and pay £65 and they might send one to me, because my name matched the current v5, said good job my surname isn't Smith else most people would be able to apply for a new one then.

They wouldn't accept evidence of purchase or anything from dealership or even if I managed to get dealer to email to say they'd messed up, not interested.

And asked the question what happens if the house the v5 has gone to are unscrupulous and re-register the car in their name what then, and they just said well they're the registered keeper then, and you'd have to seek legal advice.

What complete PITA that was !,
When you have THERE loan car from the dealer, they are SO keen on having your details.
They want a copy of your driving license and even ask for your national insurance number sometimes !.
And they let this happen with your trade in, that is woefully inadequate.

Nothing surprises me with this dealer. The branch where I bought it from in December still have not contacted me about the issues reported to them. Utter shower of ....

Somehow I feel you were never intended to have this car in the first place @Goldie007 ???.
When you have to work this hard to try and make it work, you have to start listening with your head and not with your heart ❤️.
With all of the problems you have gone though, even if they sort it out you have lost faith now surely ?.
I take my hat off to you for your resolve, but enough is enough.

I am getting to the point of simply walking away. Did not buy a Frankenstein car with bits from several cars. MG surely are getting such bad press over things like this along with bad dealer experience.
