Lane Assist Trying To Kill Me!

Yes, until MG release the fix it's best turned off - fortunately R59 makes this simple, swipe down from the top, touch the icon to disable. Better than burying it 5 clicks deep in a sub menu.

Still 3 touches to turn it off which is silly.

The, "Are you really sure you want to disable this valuable safety feature?" question should really just F off IMO.

Considering that the manual says that the LKA may exhibit undesirable behaviour in some road conditions and that if that happens it should be switched off immediately, they're not making it easy. The idea of trying to switch it off as you're being pulled into a ditch, or into the path of a lorry, or about to hit a cyclist, doesn't appeal to me.

This is my point all the time. MG does not provide the tools to do this 'immediately'.

I've had a thought ( always dangerous). Everyone is seeing this as a character flaw with LKA.
What if it's actually the Driver Asleep Mode assist ? Can't remember proper name at the mo' CDA or something?
Anyway, it thinks it detects you falling asleep for whatever twisted reason and carries out a swift manoeuvre to wake you up ( with extreme prejudice).
As this seems to be the reported effect 100% of the time, what you would actually have would be a very effective, rather than irritating system ??

Tongue firmly planted in cheek there.

Until they get it sorted out to be 100% accurate and effective, just keep it in Tow Mode. System remembers it every time so you don't have to. Just occasionally have to acknowledge a prompt on start up.
You lose a couple of things like reversing sensors but soon get used to the size of the car again like the good ol' days. Not sure if it works across the whole range but it should do to prevent you going into a LKA induced death spiral when towing something big ( imagine!! ?)

Except that disables some features I would want to maintain. From the user manual:
Note: When towing mode is activated, some functions of the vehicle will be limited or turned off, such as:
  • Auto emergency brake;
  • Adaptive cruise control system;
  • Traffic jam assist system;
  • Lane departure assist system;
  • Rear driving assistance system;
  • Rear parking aid system;

I have had the same experience
I was nearly killed the other day facing the same experience you had .I have refused to drive the car until MG ADMIT there is a major defect in there lane assistant management system.
There should be updates for it this month, contact your dealer to check for module updates and infotainment version R59

Fair enough. ?
It is fair enough but personally I'd rather be in control of the car as much as is possible rather than biting my nose off to spite my face. Computer says no when it shouldn't = uh-oh! Until 'they' fully resolve the issues it can stay switched off. Don't enjoy the idea if being a lab rat to test their critical systems. Especially if you end up in an accident and the insurance companies decide it's your fault when you KNOW it was the sub-standard assist.... and as for being considered responsible for a fatality...

Absolutely agree, even the manual states many times that you are solely responsible for the cars actions yet if you have to keep monitoring these " aids " then that is an extra distraction which stops you giving your full attention to all that is happening around you and along your chosen route. Seems in a way self defeating. Unless of course they are aimed and fitted for a proportion of the population who treat driving as a right and not a responsible craft and constantly evolving skill.

Ultimately aiming towards autonomous transport. This is just the next phase of taking control. - pass the sieve and aluminium foil ?

TBH I carried out all the available updates today & LKA was a lot better
Guess the front radar update is a lot better than what I had

I read that's what's responsible for LKA
