Sleeping in MG4 [merged thread]

Can confirm that Edinburgh is as grey as it has been the last two days. Not jealous at all!
I’m sitting in the lookout behind the cafe down from Ardnamurchan lighthouse. Magnette is drinking a few watts over in the car park at the Charge Place Scotland dispenser. I think I'll have a look inside the tower. It’s so lovely I nearly fell asleep here in the heat. Family at the next table whilst I had lunch earlier spontaneously waffled that they were glad they got rid of their ev because the charging in Scotland (and down south ) is abysmal and they’ll henceforth stick with proper petrol machines. I asked where they tried to find chargers when they had the car and they said everywhere but it was hopeless. When I said I came over from near Edinburgh yesterday they were amazed- “in one day ?? - where did you charge it?”
I said at home then topped up at Ballachulish and its charging now at the cafe door. Never saw them again ?
Gotta move before I stew, there’s a wee sea breeze but this seat is so sheltered ?

I bet they spur of the moment charged instead of planned stop charging and scoped out plan B charging sites ?

To be fair I haven’t planned any charging. I’ve just grazed a bit of lecky when there’s been a unit near a coffee shop. The coffee in the information shop in Ballachulish was good yesterday but in the cafe by the Ardnamurchan lighthouse here today it’s only a type two charger but the coffee is wonderful ??

Car now pumped back up to 80% again and promises 210 miles plus. My coffee intake shall we say is also more than adequate ?

Camping in Kilchoan camp site tonight. It’s been beautiful today with just that wee breeze discouraging the midges. Kilchoan to Tobermory ferry is only for humans so I’ll need to go back to Lochaline if I want to go to Mull tomorrow. I did fancy rough camping at the Gribun cliff area.

Your attachments are not working. Perhaps try a new post at the bottom of the thread, rather than replying to yourself.
With a report like that thank goodness you’re a mod on here and not my doctor ?
In my defence I’m battling against really poor signals on this phone sometimes and then, like now, I must be in close proximity to the beams of enlightenment.
Other than that I’m in an open sleeping bag (it’s too warm) in a tent on the roof of an oriental electric estate car on Scotland’s westernmost edge and I can’t remember what picture I tried to send.
Thank you for your advice ?

Yes, I realise I was short on useful suggestions, but I can't imagine what you did wrong, sorry!

Now we're missing out on those wonderful vistas!

Hopefully the next photos will work.

Too warm in Scotland... wow!

It’s glorious at the most westerly point of the British mainland with all one’s attachments present and correct ?

CAN YOU HEAR ME MOTHER ?

Heading there now. A bit duller today but not bad. Survived the trek up to Loch Blàir and went back to the lovely wee parking spot by the rowan tree to sleep. Drove to the head of Loch Arkaig this morning, where it was quite sunny and lovely views, now on the Tesla supercharger at An Gearasdan to get enough juice for Ardnamurchan.

I've wanted to see this wee loch since I was 13. Bucket list, ticked.

Red SE SR on the ChargePlace Scotland charger across from me when there were Tesla plugs free. Just, why?

Tell me where the cream tea is! Because I hiked for over five hours yesterday and I intend to pamper myself.

There’s traffic lights controlling the last half mile or so to the light house- that’s how narrow and twisted it is ?. As soon as you are through the gates and pass the cafe on your left the wee type two charge post is at the first two parking spaces. £5.97 for 12kWh yesterday. More parking up at the light house if it’s busy. The cafe sells fine filled rolls plus cakes and scones which can be upgraded with the aforementioned jam and cream. Personally I don’t get the cream then jam but maybe I’m just a messy spreader ?.
I’ve just arrived at Lochaline where my ferry is just approaching the pier beautifully timed. I might choose a campsite tonight or rough camp at the Gribun rocks area, I’ll see where Magnette snail fancies ?.
Enjoy those roads - there’s some fine wee tracks you might sample with your Caliban lodgings. Stay safe and enjoy ?

I'm not sure where I'll go tonight. Maybe close enough to come back and do the lighthouse tour in the morning.

I couldn't get VtL to work this morning so had to wash in unheated water (it wasn't really cold) and drink Irn Bru for breakfast instead of tea! I did get tea while the car was charging on the supercharger at lunch time though. So anyway, never mind tea and hot water for washing, if I have to blow up that airbed with my actual mouth I won't be so happy.

Actually I think I'll go for the Kilchoan camp site and be civilised. Sounds like they take cars.

And here I am, I think I'm in the same bay as @Archev.

Hope I dusted and vacuumed it to your liking. I was keen to stew a couple of those apples on the tree for breakfast ??
I was going to rough camp at Gribun on Mull but all the flat bits are overloaded with twitchers and whatever the equivalent Otter and other wildlife watchers are called. A few dozen of them but looked like millions. So I’ve ventured back to Fidden farm near Fionnphort. The CCS charger in the car park wouldn’t speak to me so I’ve sat there having a roll with cheese and orange juice while the type 2 brought the car back to 50% -120 miles so I’ll get somewhere tomorrow- possibly right here. I want to reacquaint with the farmer’s father after many years.

Gribun rocks.

All satisfactory. And - running water! Toilets! Also, not nearly so many midges. Except I really can't find my Bite-Away wand, which is infuriating. I do have antihistamine cream, but I'm still itching. The friend who phoned me this evening said it's not necessary to book on the Craignure ferry, so I might go back via Mull after all.

I’m using stuff called “Smidge” which was very effective on that site. Not a chance of a midge here tonight - should have brought some guy lines & tent pegs. Aye the Lochaline ferry wasn’t very busy either. Waze announced a severe traffic warning between Pennygael and Bunessan but all I met were a few school buses.
I think I’ll pack and run home at lunch time as the winds doubling to 40+ in the afternoon

I have some of that with me although I was mostly using Jungle Formula. My issue is treating the bites that happen.

If the weather is going to do that I'd probably be better going back by road, I suppose.

Good morning everyone. Well that was a blustery night and no mistake but I slept really well up here. Winds allegedly reached twenty something mph. There wasn’t much rain but later today the winds are forecast up around 45 mph and there’s nothing between me up here and the Atlantic Ocean over there. So I’ll either seek a bit more sheltered location or run away home.
Trouble is if the nay sayers really are correct I’ll be stuck. There aren’t any chargers, I haven’t the range to do today’s trip. I might not be allowed on the ferry if they notice Magnette Snail is electric.
This roof tent has reduced my economy from about 4.4 average way down nearer 4.3.
