MG3 good bits...

That will do it Chris, the energy generated going downhill and braking too, is not equal to that needed to come back up and in 0.9 mile we gain almost 1000 feet.

Re economy! Bought mine 3 weeks ago and had a short hop to do yesterday on the Scottish back roads. 76.4 per gallon. Quite impressive. I'm 6'4" and find the car quite roomy. Loving the car but dislike the cruise control. When set & your going down hill, even a small hill, the CC is jerky as it slows to adjust your set speed then picks up again. Also hate the fact that after setting various things in the Pilot everything reverts back to default when you restart the car.

You have plenty of company in those complaints.

As for the cc try the Acc it's both good and pants depending on the road type as it had to control the engine and the EV motor.

Same if you nail it, very skittish, it just has really crap software IMHO. ?

We should all contact MG with these issues as nothing will happen without action on our part, but the British are afflicted with apathy.

They aren't driving it though.

It's a great car in many ways, the software isn't one of them, it feels unfinished.
I understand your reaction, but let me tell you that in this world nothing is perfect and everything can be improved.

Coming from Honda (after Fiat) I can tell you that, on the contrary, the MG3 has a lot of scope for customisation and on-board software that is actually quite well designed.
Honda and Toyota are far, far behind in this area, and it feels like we've gone straight from the Stone Age to the renaissance period between Toyota-Honda and MG ?.

I appreciate, for example, that the AUTO HOLD function does not have to be reactivated after each start-up which is silly and unproductive. Which is the case on Japanese cars as far as I know

I have to disagree I'm afraid.

I don't expect perfect at that price point, what I do expect is a good knowledgeable dealer
back up not had it yet, I expect to be able to set the car up for me and how I like to drive not the other way round, had the driver aids been shown to me and told I could not permanently turn them off, the car would NOT be on our drive.

The Fiesta had auto hold that did not need to be reactivated so it's not a new thing.

I understand ..... but the many European safety directives impose these things on manufacturers, and they can be restrictive.
So there's no doubt that if you bought another make or another vehicle today, it would be STRICTLY the same.

It's a shame sometimes, but that's the way it is for our safety.

Just think back to the 60s when seatbelts were not compulsory.... And now all cars sold must have them.

How is is safe to drive a car that brakes whenever IT thinks there is an issue when all you are doing is passing a parked car, taking control out of the hands of the driver can NEVER be a good thing.

Next you'll be wanting self driving cars.

I like the performance in Sports mode , had some fun in ours this morning on nearly empty country roads . It hasn’t got the ‘grunt’ of our previous Fiesta ST but road holding and cornering is pretty much on par ….not too shabby for a ‘city car’
Do you drive yours in sport mode or normal what mpg you getting

1. Comfort. Decent ride quality without compromising handling.
2. Space. Decent levels of space for a supermini.
3. Hill hold. Great for a relaxed drive in traffic.
4. Decent fuel economy.
5. Decent equipment levels for a price that's substantially less than the competition.
What mpg you getting

I haven't done a brim to brim, but the display is telling me 57ish It did read 58.9 for a good while. I'm expecting it to fall as the temperature drops over the next few months.

Forgot to add, I never move it out of normal mode. Regen level two.

An Audi S3 pulled out in front of me today. I had to bake and flashed my lights. He decided to show me how fast the S3 accelerates. The MG3 kept up with it, and that was in eco mode. Acceleration is definitely a good bit!
