How do you disconnect after charging ? I cannot find any information and it doesn’t seem to disconnect unless I take out the plug in my house first

You can stop changing from the app or from the entertainment screen

Are we talking original first Gen ZS EV or the new face lift model ?.
I suspect the original ZS EV myself ?.
If so, then no App.
We are talking charging with the "Granny" unit here of course - right ?.
If so, you should be able to stop the charge by pressing the unlock button on the on the remote fob, then wait for the whir sound of the cable unlocking.
As soon as you hear this sound, remove the the cable or it will re-lock again into the charging port again.
Now turn off the power supply to the Granny lead.
Done.

It's also best if you do it in the order given above, i.e. unlock, unplug, then lastly switch off at the wall.

Switching off at the wall first interrupts current through an inductor, and they don't like that. The inductor will try to keep the current going any way it can, including causing an arc at the switch. This is hard on the switch and the high voltage spikes generated aren't good for the electronics.

It is the new one. I cannot find an unlock button anywhere, can you advise ?

Unlock the car (as in the doors) and it will stop charging, lights on the front are green when charging and blue when connected but not charging

If it's not full you have to stop the charge in the battery menu on the screen.

It will only disconnect on unlocking the car if it's reached the state of charge you've specified.

There is also a manual unlock but that's considered at last resort
It also says to release the handle you have to interrupt charge so use app or screen in car or switch of charger?

Is this true?

If it is, then thats quite a PITA. My old BMW hybrid used to "interrupt" and unlock the charge cable whenever the vehicle was unlocked... I'm not going to like having to get in the car to faff about with the infotainment unit everytime I have gone out somewhere to get a cheeky bit of free electricity.

Yes it is true and yes, you are.

Would have been more handy if they had fitted a "discontinue" behind the charge port, instead of the rather useless 4 LED SOT indicator.

The discontinue button should only work, if the car is unlocked offcourse :)

I wonder if one could get around this limitation by turning off the charger (Granny charger, pull the 230V plug from the socket) first ?

Will the car let go of the cable if the charger stops delivering voltage ? (And, is it safe to do it that way).

When i get my ZS EV (2 days) i am going to slow charge it at home from surplus solar energy from my solar panels, so i am not going to have a full charge every day, when i want to disconnect, so i guess i will be going to the infotainment quite a bit to release the plug.

Or just stop the charge from the charger if you don't wont to get in the car or use app?

Switching off the charger before the car's inverter has shut down may cause a spike which can end up with a visit to the dealership to have a new inverter fitted. :)

Switching off is no different to charges that are on timers I really don't think this will be a problem

O

n the Home Screen, , just above the display with the percentage charge, press it. Towards the bottom of the sceen press finish charging. Adjacent to that, press the padlock if not already unlocked.
