MG4 Software Update Thread

Yeah it's ok to install, went on fine, MCU is still 68.4.3.0 as copied from R59/R46
The charger % setting doesn't work
The pull down whilst on AA / CP doesn't work
But they've corrected the temperature being 2°C off.

Installs fine. Just remember R63 has the issue where you can’t adjust the charge level from the car - but you can still set charge level in app.
It was fix yesterday by dealer, I don't know what they do but I found this :

And I know MCU was updated from 68.4.3.0 to 68.4.7.0

FICM Is the MCU, they upgraded it via sips and then reconfigured it as standard MG update procedure. I guess R63 requires that. There's a 68.4.6.0 in the wild as well so that may work too

I had my MG4 xpower delivered a couple of weeks ago with R63 installed. It had a problem with the maps so the guys at the dealers suggested me to do a factory reset for some unknown reason.
Of course the weather now doesn’t show and errors with “Implementation is falled, please try again later”
Also in the user menu section the items sent from the app like the poi/travel plans/message errors with :“java.lang.NullPointerException: interceptor b.i.b.b.a.a@ff95747 returned null”

So with the R63 leaked on here, I went back to R46, factory reset, and set everything up and it all worked fine, weather, user section etc. Upgraded to R63, the weather worked for about an hour but the user part did not work and carried on with the java error.

Kind of given up. Dunno if it’s worth going back to R46 then R59 then to R63.

@Mouss had the same problem. Apparently, he managed to sort it out with a full reinstall of the MPU.

I have exactly the same problem when I flash on R59 or R63, the weather and the user area don't work! When I flash R46 everything works.

I always flash AVN_MPU first and then ECU, I always keep the folder structure when I have unpacked the *.zip, so vipimage and md5check in the root directory, usb-ota.zip is packed in the subfolder.

Factory Reset is carried out via the user interface

The MCU only needs loading if you're updating from an old version, also the MCU version in update files R46, R59, R63 is the same, they've stopped adding it to the USB package so 68.4.3.0 has been added to all 3, they now say to update that part via the obd port

I can confirm that upgrading MCU to 68.4.7.0 via SIPS solves the the in-car charger % setting. I'll report back today if 68.4.6.0 is compatible as well (that update got released after R46 was out and I have some cars with that version already installed)
R63 also fixed hotspot for me (it was broken with R59)

No, latest USB update package is 68.4.3.0, after that they switched over to SIPS. I think because otherwise you won't run re-configuration routes which update some parameters based on the car configuration

Can you recommend/link a good SIPs tool to use for this? I'm tired of dealers not updating🤣

My car use 68.4.6 from dealer for May 24.

The only think i discorvered, i must lock doors with key before using a super charger (tesla & IECharge tested).

In the past i did it, doors and boot open
68.4.3.0

Labougie. Luxury mg4

Agree with @the happy bunny
They just need to plug the car to SIPS, read it and perform the right updates (FICM for sure, maybe some others)
But don't mention the R46 you installed @ntangle
Already on R63, I did a factory reset, and then reconfigured. Carried out the R63 upgrade over current R63. Rebooted. Went into the engineer activation menu. Deleted the current activations. Rebooted again.Tethered to the mobile phone, and then activated the AVN and Map. Rebooted.

It now works, after a number of reboots to test it still works.

Thanks @Mouss and @the happy bunny
