Quick Winter Wash. Bloody cold
but just had to be done. Worth it though.

Well, my ghast is flabbered, Just found out its illegal to wash your car in France!!!! You cannot wet wash either on a public highway , private driveway or well anywhere. This is to stop dirty water which may contain contaminates from entering drains , watercourses, or soakaways whether or not they are contained within your property. You can "dry " wash privately but for a wet wash you have to go to one of the professional car cleaners who have to have holding tanks to keep the waste water which then has to tankered out to be re-cycled. All older style car washing emporiums will be closed or need investment to comply. Did the price go up , you bet it did . Its my sad duty to convey to you that you are now conversing with a criminal, previously ignorant but now intentional. As a by product the price of car shampoo in the shops has dropped as they try to get rid of their stocks.
I am hoping this is a joke that has got out of hand but it has been reported by several respected car magazines and on the news.
There are different levels of severity depending on which reports you read , the English ex pat newspapers follow your version . The French versions are more strict and then there are the self accredited experts on Reddit etc who all have their own interpretation of the rules with ,as we have become used to , varying levels of stupidity.Nearly right.
These restrictions generally only apply if you wash your car on a public road accessible to other vehicles, or if your garden/parking spot is directly next to a public road or walkway.
Washing your car on a fully private piece of land is not prohibited except during drought periods as long as you ensure the water used to wash the car does not reach a public area.
Any discharge of wastewater, domestic or otherwise, is prohibited on public roads.
The French like their rules and regulations together with paperwork. By the time someone's worked out which department to report you to for washing the car and then worked out if it went into the public or private drain and filled out the paperwork in triplicate and sent a copy to the government department in Paris as well as the local municipal council you'll have either moved or died. There are different levels of severity depending on which reports you read , the English ex pat newspapers follow your version . Yes, I do agree that private vehicles should not be washed where the resultant wash ends up in the rainwater drains. You don;t have to 'wash' the underneath for enough of the wash to end up there. The UK is way, way behind good environmental policy. How's the raw sewage in many rives and coastal beaches as an example? So you agree, with the rule, you can't wash your own car in your own drive or on the road in front of your own house. Sorry definitely don't agree. You mention underneath the car, how many actually wash underneath there car, not many I bet. I don't and I'm fussy, with me motor. What next for Christ sake. You can't mow your own grass or clean your own windows.![]()

What's wrong with driving a car a few minutes to good facilities that have professional quality power washes, water supplies for buckt & sponge, vacuum cleaners etc, etc? At the same time you won;t be washing used engine oil residue into public drains.
Not sure what car washes are like in Cyprus but a large portion of the UK ones are pretty shady and I do a far better job myself.Yes, I do agree that private vehicles should not be washed where the resultant wash ends up in the rainwater drains. Cyprus doesn't have any regulations on this subject which is one of the negatives living here, still a long way to go environmentally. In the UK maybe but in countries like Germany, the waste is strictly stored and then processed. It's normal there and no one even thinks about it. Lots to learn from such countries with regards to the environment, a shame some others have their heads buried in very selfish and short term thinking sand. Not sure what car washes are like in Cyprus but a large portion of the UK ones are pretty shady and I do a far better job myself.
I would also wager the most are just letting the waste water run off into main drains
