Autohold activation

The 'Quick Guide' booklet is actually the first thing you'd have instant access to when driving away from the Showroom in a brand new MG4, unfortunately it doesn't mention Autohold.

I also just noticed today when auto hold is enabled it keeps the brake lights on as if you had your foot on the brake.

I had assumed it was like enabling a hand brake where the lights would go out.

I would say it's more like keeping your foot on the brakes. I'm very cautious with it and always have my foot hovering above the real brake just in case something happens.

Auto hold applies the brakes using the same mechanism as when you put your foot on the brake. If you want the equivalent of the handbrake, pull the parking brake switch up or press the P on the drive mode rotary button. I'm guessing the brake lights go off in both cases but haven't checked.

If you press P, you then have to select D again to pull away.

If you use the parking brake switch, the accelerator is still active and the parking brake is automatically released when you press it. As it takes 1/2 a second or so to release the parking brake, it will often pull away with quite a clonk if you use anything other than gentle acceleration. A very brief pause after the first touch of the accelerator allows you to pull away smoothly at any acceleration.

I am happy with the way auto hold works it was just more an observation on how the lights worked different to how I thought :)

At night I pull up the Parking Brake switch (not the rotary button) so the brake lights go off and the car stays in D. Pressing the accelerator will release the brake and the car will move off. So that is auto hold without the lights in effect.

Where is the parking switch you can pull? I had this on my old 5 but not seen it on my 4 Trophy.
