Checking whether the PD052 update has been installed.

I’ve had the pd052 update. And it is not fixed. If anything in dual carriage ways, it’s worse. Can’t remain at a constant speed. Cruise control seems to make it worse. It’s blinking awful.
I have no such issues maybe the update was not installed.I find on dual carriage ways ,once I hit 80 KPH revs drop and in assisted cruise control the revs settle down below 2000.

My battery seems to drain really quickly, and doesn’t charge again when driving at a motorway speed. Tonight I was driving around 75mph on cruise control and it just started revving and roaring. I left it to see if the battery would charge as a result. But nothing. I had to come off ACC, allow the car to slow and drive slowly to try and regenerate the battery. This was a constant cycle untill I was driving back on 60 roads where it seemed to be fine. I also find that it is not changing gear even at low speed. I went from 0-60 at a very reserved pace and it just stayed in low gear untill it was revving at 4.8. Had to release the acceleration. Allow it to drop and then slowly resume acceleration and then again it seemed fine again.

The garage has twice confirmed the update as pd052. Unsure why they would say it was when they didn’t. I am going back next Wednesday for further investigation and have taken video evidence and a written timeline of occurrence so that can’t argue haha

Ask them for printout of updates applied to your car.As matter of interest how long did the update take.

I left my car in at 8:00am and had it back by10:00am.Did you check your app to see if the car was being worked on,I received several alarms while the car was in the workshop

I'm having the same problem, I live in Sheffield and am surrounded by hills! The over revving is a massive problem and makes the car almost undriveable. The dealership have no answer for it and the reply I got from MG customer service was pathetic, suggesting that I book the car into the dealership and ask them to check for an update! I'm still waiting for the Service Dept to get back to me but don't have any confidence in them providing a solution in the near future.
I'm going to email the head of the dealership next to see what he intends to do about the issue.

Steve
Hi

Thanks Steve, yeh please keep us posted if you receive anything back. My stance at the moment is I'm giving it a week before I make the decision to return it or not; in that week I expect solid answers and a plan of action. Failing that it is being returned.

MG know they’ve messed up big time. They’re also no doubt aware that they came bottom in customer satisfaction survey of 31 manufacturers. They probably hoped they could resolve the MG ZS Hybrid + power issue without admitting there was a systemic fault on all cars.
Seen the same attitude with a certain Californian tech company. Deny. Deny. Deny. It’s coming from senior management. I wouldn’t get angry with the dealerships. They are probably partly in the dark and probably being told to try and keep a lid on it.
It’s truly disgusting that MG UK and MG in general have not recalled this potential accident I’d rather not think about.
It seems MG may not have learnt from the past, which is disappointing.
They REALLY do need to stop trying to minimise the issue and do a worldwide recall. It’s frightening that they haven’t. I can see huge lawsuit coming their way.

Possible good news for UK owners regarding the update. Just had the email message below from my dealer. Going to call them to discuss further.

"I have got a response from MG and there is some updates we can do on your vehicle to resolve this issue.

It has been released on some vehicles but other it has not been released.

I can get this booked in for you, however, we haven't got a loan car available until going into the end of February."

Further update.
There are two updates available in the UK to fix the revving issue. Dealer didn't have the update codes but said they were for the PEU and ECM - if that means anything to any of you. 🤷‍♂️
Dealer said that to expedite updates any cars should be booked in and then they raise a ticket to MG who release the updates.
My car is booked in for 3rd March as I need a courtesy car but they are trying to get it in earlier.
Dealer agreed it was only an hour or two to update but they need the car for the day in case the software fails etc.
Hope this helps. 👍

Do keep us updated. Since there seems to MG ZS Hybrid plus owners that have had no issues, beginning to wonder if they realised a batch of cars on to market that still required updates. Very eager to discover if the updates make a difference.

I think ECM is electronic control module which could relate to all manner of things. ECM is responsible for controlling many aspects of the car… so update for ECM could be anything. PEU… not to sure. Sometimes manufacturers use their own terminology. Sure someone wil know.

Mine is booked in on Monday, to check/resolve water in the NS door mirror, I’ve also asked them to check for software updates etc.
Noel, it seems that the updates don't appear on the MG UK system yet.
I think you have to tell them about the issue, they then raise a ticket to MG and MG send them the updates separately.

They did release cars into the market without the updates ,what have we being discussing for the last number of weeks? We have been discussing PD052 for weeks now.

I would contact your dealership today and get them to check now if the updates are available. As far as I know, that is checked by SAIC using the VIN of your car. Otherwise you will have to go back again. Most of these dealerships literally only have one laptop and one guy who does all these updates.

I emailed my dealer on Sunday 26 Jan about the PD052 update. they replied saying there were several updates and so car went in today. Took 2 hours to do and I had several alerts whist awaiting about the alarm and airbags??. they did not really know what the updates were but the sheet after had 3 updates on which included the PD052. they said they are not told about the updates and can only check once the car owner asks. No noticeable difference in the car driving home and it still revved high a couple of times and at quite low speeds. (I'm in Wales with numerous 20mph zones and constant speed limit changes) I will see what happens over next week or so but overall still very happy with the car

Just contacted my dealer. There are no updates outstanding for my vehicle, checked using vin number. PD052 has not been applied to my vehicle. Told PD052 is not related to the over revving. The loss or power and over revving is a ‘feature’ of hybrid engines. Suggested the regen facility maybe of assistance.

Yeah, I know that. But is it universal or did only certain cars not get PD052 update. I ask because some people on this forum report no issues.

It's disappointing that you still notice excess revving after having the update applied. Please keep us informed as to how the car performs over the next week - perhaps run it up a few Welsh hills. 😁
I noticed from your pics that you run in Eco regen 1 whereas I use Normal 2. I really need to read the manual to understand when to use each.
After 2000 miles I've achieved 46 mpg which is the same as I achieved overall in my previous MG ZS petrol.

I have managed to get 62 mpg on some days.

You will hopefully notice more of a difference when the weather is a little warmer, and you use less electrical equipment.

I find the biggest use is the heater fan, this nearly always switches the engine on.

If it wasn't applied to your vehicle ,then it is an outstanding update. Gaslighting comes to mind. I can assure you that the update makes all of the difference. The over-reving is not a feature of a hybrid.

Could you please check if the revving is similar on Normal, 2 setting? It was pointed out in one of the Italian FB groups that ECO and 1 led to over-revving.

Anyway - you have pretty decent mpg :)
