Hello, my first post here. I've had my Aussie Essence 64 for a few weeks now. I'm on R11.

When I first turn on the car the first screen that appears is the climate control screen. Is this normal? Sometimes it even muscles in over the top of Android Auto. It drives me crazy. Is this something I should mention to the dealer for my first service?

Also, from the climate control screen, is there a way to go back to the previous screen (say Android Auto) without having to go via the home screen?

Thanks!

Edit: figured out that the up button in the climate control screen returns you to the previous one

It's normal and it's annoying. You can't change this behavior.
To go back to the previous screen, just press the up-arrow at the top of the screen. Climate control is essentially just overlaid, like a computer window, on top of the previous screen.

Enjoy your new car

Thanks! It's slightly less annoying now I know how to back out of it: before I was tapping the home button and then choosing Android Auto again!

Do you leave the climate control / heater switched on when you lock the car?

If I do that the climate control screen appears when I start the car. If I switch them off before locking the car the climate control screen doesn't appear next time I start it.

One mans meat.......I love the climate control screen and often keep it on for whole journey especially if atmospheric changes are expected. Before this screen i had to either stop the car to make changes to HVAC or risk crashing car by fiddling about with the infotainment screen, distracting my attention from the road. So for me its a major improvement. Easy now to flick between it and other sceeens etc.

Yep, that climate control screen. 90% of the time, I don’t mind that. It is an unfortunately strange dance between climate control settings, home and (either Apple CarPlay or ) Android Auto. I would like a long press of the physical climate control button to bring up the climate settings. (Replacing Home or whatever screen is showing)
Has anyone worked out a simplified setting to cycle through the different key screens? Would re setting the left star button work for that?
I like Apple Maps when using navigation. We are outside DB radio areas, so we never use the radio except via apps in Apple Car Play.
Mostly the car is fine but quick access to HVAC easily would be great.

Have had ours for nine months and have never touched the climate settings since. Climate screen sometimes emerges on top, I've no idea why. Tap the home button then CarPlay (when it's working).

I did change the star buttons. The Drive mode is now on the left and the HVAC system option is on the right. There is a small dialog box which allows you to adjust the temperature, and fan speed up or down using the joystick button on the right. That is why I moved the control to the right hand side. Pressing the star button on the right toggles this dialog on or off. Since I don’t change the regeneration levels anyway, it is a reasonable option.
The regeneration level in the custom drive mode suits me. I am not a big fan of one pedal driving. It is still something I see as an awkward novelty. I don’t mind it as an option but not something I see as my preferred option. You need to use one pedal driving carefully to avoid making passengers car sick.
Setting up “Custom” mode is far more useful in my opinion.
