MG4 Trophy LR
Bit of an odd one perhaps but after a bit of research and today having a test drive I think I'm going to order an MG4 (probably Trophy spec in Orange :D) but one question I had was whether/how easily golf clubs would fit in the boot?

Does anyone who already have an MG4 play golf? Any chance of pictures of the clubs in would be a nice to have really :)

I was planning to test today with the test drive but it ended up raining and didn't feel like standing in the rain, they did say I could sort out some other time to check it when it's less rainy :p

Sounds like you had the right idea, take your clubs with you when you go to check the car out and have a test drive.

I suspect having looked at it?on my test drive that I might have to fold down the back seat to get my clubs in. No great hassle to be honest but as Jomarkh states takes your bag or at least a driver and/or an iron to try it out

My MG4 hasn't arrived yet, but I have the same issue. I currently have an MG ZS EV, the boot dimensions of which are very similar to the MG4. With the ZS I take the woods out the bag, then can easily fit the golf bag and trolley in the boot, with the woods laid diagonally on top. My MG4 dealer is a golfer, and he says he has brought his clubs into their showroom, and the clubs fit ok, the same way as my ZS.

So I'm hoping that they'll go in ok, without the need to fold any seats down.

From 2012 to 2017 I had a Golf GT ... I could get my clubs in that (across the back near the boot lip) if I removed the driver. I imagine the MG4 will provide similar space.

(Although in my case my clubs tend to stay in my locker in the changing room, and it's only my Motocaddy trolley that I transport).

:)

Now when I read 'driver' I was momentarily confused that you meant the car driver, then I remembered my golf! ?

I'm not a golfist but I reckon our kid's umbrella fold buggy is pretty similar in size. It fits but not flat due to the wheel arches.

We usually stow it in the rear foot well. Since it's almost flat it fits well. That's with my driving position (6' 2") too.

Thanks everyone, probably gonna try again when it's dry next week but did look like I might need to take the long clubs out like mentioned. Bit of a shame but not a dealbreaker really.

Was/am kinda hoping that maybe with a trolley to lean on they might fit with the long clubs in but who knows.

So I've got the car for an extended test drive this morning and before I head back I thought I'd give the golf clubs a check and update this thread.

Sure enough you need to take at least the driver out, my Hybrid (4 for what it's worth) was ok to stay in:

After taking this picture (the cable was like that when I got it btw :p) I realised the bottom of the bag was up against the dual-height bit in the trophy so I took everything out and raised that up to it's top height (and put the cable below it, which is how I'd have it anyway) and I could get the bag flush against the back seats so could probably fit a trolley in there as well...

I also tried the '40' part of the split seat down and obviously they fit lengthways no problem.

Not perfect but good enough for me, I keep pulling the boot seal off the MX-5 when getting the clubs out cause it's a really close fit.

Is that with the floor raised or not? I found with the floor raised the driver actually fit quite nicely at the 'back' of the boot (as in near the opening) with the head in one of the side pocket areas if that makes sense?

Also what boot liner/mat did yoy get, looks quite nice?

That's with the boot at the lowest. I tried with the floor raised but the bag and trolley then didn't fit.

I'm sorry I can't remember what the boot liner was, we got it for our old ZS from Amazon and switched it on part exchange and it fits quite well in the MG4 too. Stops the mud from the trolley getting on the car, so stops me getting nagged!
