MG ZS EV Facelift - Test drives

Hi,
I drove this one too, I think it was not the connect version, am I right? Me and @Lovemyev would like to know (from the other thread) as I know it had the voice control button on the steering wheel to open the sunroof by voice etc. I only had a very brief drive as the weather was extremely poor and Burnley gridlocked. Very nice though. Rear ended on the way home by a tailgater with bald tyres.
Thanks.
yes it was a connect as it told me the weather when I turned on the car!! :O

Can it have a cup of tea and a piece of toast ready, that’s pop’s out from behind the info unit at the same time !?.
Got to love them gadgets ?.
It does that, Myles told me it did, I'm sure 'toaster' was on the MG ZS EV Trophy connect with the 'breakfast' option

Yeah right !.
They could have repurposed the battery toggle switch, as a jam dispenser !.
Then it would have a proper job to do.
Pretty much close to getting its P45 on the face lift mode really ?.
Question ??‍♂️.
Why the hell is it still there ?.
Does it perform an other function than bringing up your remaining range ?.
Why have this, when you have the range clearly shown in the dash panel AND the long awaited percentage reading of battery ?.
Over kill ????.

apparently, the battery button brings up the charging options on the screen. I think I saw it on one of the videos.

The battery button now brings up the main battery menu in the nav unit, giving access to charge timers, preheat, battery charge/discharge level setting etc

Cheers @MilesperkWh .
It does have a purpose after all.
More useful info and features will be relieved when you get time to put together your video Miles !.
Cheers !.

Agreed, what about the battery temperature, so the toast doesn't burn?
I think, if you're in the car and your batteries are hot enough to burn your toast, it's time to stop worrying about breakfast.....

I test drove an MG ZS and an MG5 yesterday. The ZS was a pre-facelift Excite and was my first time behind the wheel of an EV of any kind. I absolutely adored it! Lovely to drive and amazingly quiet. I drove with KERS on 3 and thought that was an amazing feature... enough to really slow the car down but not too severe. I also had a go in an MG5 as well. Sadly (for the regulars on this part of the forum) I preferred it. It felt more planted (probably due to the lower centre of gravity) and was hilariously quick! Plus the 250 mile range is more than adequate for me plus it has a bigger boot. Having driven a Stelvio for the last 3 years I have found I prefer to be lower to the ground.

The new shape ZS EV does look good but at this moment there is no 0% deal on it so it works out expensive for me but the MG5 is 0% so to me that's the clincher.

With that I made my decision and have gone for a Piccadilly Blue MG5 for delivery in February. Can't wait!

You have taken the big step towards an EV - That's all that really matters in my book !.
Remember, there is NO bad EV - Period.
Some are just better than others !.
If you like / require the higher ride height that the ZS EV has to offer, then it's brilliant.
Great for loading small children into the back, if you have any back problems.
On the other hand, if a lower ride height is your thing, then the MG5 fits the bill without having to compromise on space either.
MG5 is quicker / more range and is quieter than the original ZS EV, due to the better aerodynamic shape and lower ride height.
Handling will be better in the MG5 due to the lower ride height also.
The new face lift ZS EV solves the range problem of course, but it comes at a price.
I am sure you will be pleased with you EV !.
Time to start looking into a wall box maybe ?.
You will be amazed on just how much you save on fossil fuel costs.
Prepare for your friends to say:-
"Please don't mention electric cars, or you will be there all night :ROFLMAO:".

Thanks @Lovemyev. :) Yeah the next thing will be a wall box. And with THAT there's so much choice my head will be spinning.

I think the savings on fuel are immense, especially given I'm transitioning from an Alfa Romeo Stelvio petrol (26-27MPG) to something I can change for free in my workplace! But there's also savings on VED and insurance to look forward to.

OMG !.
If you usage in a ICE car that is costing that much to run, then your running costs on the EV are going to go a LONG way to pay your payments on the car !.
You are going to see a big difference !.

Had a spare 15 minutes so popped to the dealer and had a look at the car. Was very impressed. Looking forward to the test drive next week now.
