MG4 Charging port lights stopped working

Hi all. My charging port lights have stopped working when I plug in to charge at home, I was wondering if anyone else has also had this issue?

Not the biggest problem, I'm absolutely loving the

I have the same. I had set the li.it to 80%. I noticed that no lights were showing even though I had 65% battery lev

I later checked and found I was then at 68% so left it charging. But later I found that on dashboard picture that at 78,% it had stopped charging with a triangle ?️ with ! Mark on it. I then removed the charger and set to 100% suddenly the green lights were now showing and charged to 100%.
I reported to MG dealer. Who requested I set again to 80% and when I charge again to take note of what happens.
I will come back again after next test. Like you I love the car, it's a joy to drive.

Mine stopped working a few months back, had 1st service last week and mentioned this. They said they will have to order a part and book another day in workshop.
On charging last night the lights where working. They did a software update after the service so this may have cured it.

Mine stopped working about a month after I got my car (18 months ago). It was tricky for me to take back, but perhaps I ought to! It doesn't make much difference to me as I know when it's charging.

Ask your dealer to update charging module. Mine did this a couple of times but has since settled from an update a while back. Could be a coincidence…
@FlyingDutchman have you now overcome the periodic failure of the charge port lights by means of a software update or component replacement by your MG dealer?

Last time (third time) mine failed I left them not working as my second service was due and I wanted the dealership to witness it and have a chance to make a permanent fix. They tell me the fault requires a component replacement and it's on order, they'll call me...

It would be good to achieve a permanent fix for this issue. But I have to say resetting by fuse removal is now just a simple task, although my life would be no less complete if I never had to do it again.

There is a video of how to pull out and then replace a fuse in post #26 of this thread. It's a little way down the second page of posts.

The charge port lights will almost certainly come back to life.

Good luck ?

And a few weeks later they will go off again so save yourself the effort.

Mine were not fixed with a software update either so I've just left it for now.

Hello, all I can say is that it’s not done it in a very long time. This can either be a coincidence or a module software update applied.

Don't do anything drastic before first trying by turning off and leaving for a while. My MG4 charging port LED's stopped working yesterday but I could still charge to 80%. Today when I started the car and checked they were working fine.

My car was already booked in for its infotainment software update when the lights went so I just asked them to look at this while it was in. The news is that it needs an actual new part so we'll see. It's going in again to have that fitted in six weeks.

Just for information(as man who looks in brain and bones of my mg4). The lights in port state of charge (SoC) are not giving 25% each for all battery capacity , but Big BUT 25% from Max charge level that is selected in battery settings !
Example - you cut your SoC UpTo 70% - in this case when battery reach 70% you will have 4 bars .
If you at long journey 100% will be 4 bars.
Problem of SoC indicator is the communication between car ecu and charge module ilum part.

"Repair " options are -
1/ Clear errors in charge module VDS password requirements.
2/Car battery off for some time.(Additional problems appears sometimes)
3. Reset module with f9 fuse.(Additional problems appears sometimes)
4.Move the SoC options and lock/unlock the car.(That force digestible of car soft anatomy)
5.Lives the car enough to digestible the problem it self.(May take months if your charge habits are not flexy).

Hello @chiMol!
Long time no hear!
After pulling the fuse at least six months ago, they returned briefly and have been off ever since.

Even after the R59 update they have not returned.

I mean, I don't need them, but they are there, so it would be nice if they could be bothered to put in a shift occasionally!

My charge port lights stopped working after about a month of owning the car, and they stayed off for months. Recently, they came back on, but now the colors are off. For example, when charging, it shows a faint blue light instead of the usual solid green pulsating light. It’s odd, so I'll have the shop check it out when it goes in for service in a couple of months.

I've posted it before, but the MG recommended power reset is NOT to disconnect from battery terminal. DO disconnect the power lead from battery sensor attached to the battery.
How do you do this? I've seen a connector with two wires plugged into the battery terminal, but I haven't been able to unplug it by pulling it with my hand. Is it just hard? Or am I doing something wrong?

This just happened to me today. I don't see any light at all, not even a faint one.
The car still charges but there is no indication from the outside.
Unfortunately I don't have time to take it to the dealer now.
