I wonder if early SE models have the neccesery pinouts on the infotainment to integrate OEM camera?

Anyone done any research on that front? We know Trohpy software works, so there shouldn't be much issues on that front.

Yes, I have added a camera to my SE.

I got a non-official camera added to our SE. Bought off AliExpress.

Please get the AHD version then, the normal 480p is pretty crappy by the looks of it.

Too bad there's still no solution to integrade OEM camera natively.


Someone with a 2024+ SE could check part numbers and wiring on their infotainment, if it matchs that of early cars. I would be surprised if SAIC cut HW functionality out of their infotainemnt.

The results from that camera look excellent. But installation looks to be a nightmare. I am also vary wary of installing something that needs holes drilled when it is quite likely I'll be handing the car back at the end of PCP; if I was likely to part-ex instead it wouldn't matter.

Do you know how the camera gets installed? Doesn't seem like it would fit nicely, looking at the camera.

I think there is a small hole drilled in the plastic at the back, no interference with any metal.

The device behind the glove box is plug and play and can be removed if required. There are wires run through the car - not sure how easy it would be to take those out.

Of course, getting a professional to remove everything would be expensive.

However, given that the feature is a bonus in the car I don't see why anyone would want it removed.

If I was doing part-ex then that's true having a reversing camera is a plus point. But when doing a PCP hand back, would they say I've modified the car and demand a restoration fee?
