The issue is the time to get these updates. Mines a 2023 delivered car and it's still not due for it's first scheduled service until September.
Lots of people won't have seen any updates yet.
That is, of course frustrating for owners

Because MG4 module updates take quite a few hours, usually up to a day, MG only pays dealers to do the updates during scheduled service interval visits

I can understand why most dealers are reluctant to do the updates for free cause it would tie up their staff member and a computer for hours with no revenue for that work

Sure, but that's not an owners fault.
That's on MG to come up with a better system and work with their dealers (who in my experience don't have nice things to say about the MG system full stop)

If MG in the UK can have dealers proactively contact owners and arrange updates, they could do the same here if they wanted to.

I note MG Australia recently took down scheduled service pricing from their website. It would be good to know what's happened with that.

Given that the MG4 was released in Australia in August 2023, the first scheduled service for the first on the road would be August this Year. Mine will be due on 14th of September.

LKA mods will be welcome but I have learned to live with what I've got & I drive more accurately on 110 kmh highways. The benefits look like they will be felt on lesser single lane each way highways & mostly I don't use ACC on these roads but LKA is still on so this will be a positive move. The UK correspondent thinks so anyway.

The Satnav improvements for route planning will be good. This was promised by October 2023 when I purchased my car but took another year to come to fruition. Interestingly iSmart lists all the new chargers so if you are in a bind & can't use Android Auto or Apple Carplay you can find all the nearest chargers that way.

The MG4 is capable of OTA updates but as they chose to run with a Vodafone SIM presumably with limits so they will not invoke this. It is available in China & I believe at one stage was in Thailand but due to network issues it was scrapped there.

I like the ACC speed increase/decrease system as is. When I set the level inevitably it is 2-4km over or under the limit I want so a single up or down press on the toggle sorts it out as it changes to the nearest 5kmh. For example I want the ACC set at 100kmh & it is at 103kmh when I set it. A single press down & it is on 100 kmh. The upgrade makes this more complex.

I downloaded the 2 & 4 years service schedules before they removed it from the website. I will be asking for the price and schedule details before my first service & if there is significant change then there are issues surrounding breach of contract that may need to be addressed.

The original price for the 4 year service was over the top. There was little different from the 2 year service, just battery and transmission coolant renewal & transmission fluid replacement but the price was triple. I spoke to an MG salesman about this & he advised me to take it up with the service dept as he also thought it was over the top.

On a positive note, the MG4 has never let me down & the driving experience has far outweighed the issues mentioned above. Overall it is a great car. I paid top dollar at the time but at least got a government subsidy. Those who purchased during the price drop promotion got really good deals.

Done. I expect there will be no response other than an automated acknowledgement of enquiry. I've not had a response to queries sent via that system previously.
That's disappointing. Did your previous questions choose service enquiry?

Now that I know you've sent a query that way, please let me know if they reply. That is something I can ask MG execs at the next event I attend

I can't recall which of the drop down option I've used previously, whatever seemed logical at the time I guess.

Car makers all have the opportunity to shine over their competition with even just a little bit better attention to/care for their customers, but in my experience they are universally crap. Previous makes have included Mercedes, Subaru, Holden, Audi, VW, Nissan and now MG. Mercedes were the worst.

I've only ever purchased 3 new vehicles though had a number of new company cars.
I have never had cause to go back about any fault (until the MG) so can't comment on that sort of service.

I have had one recall for my 2012 Mitsubishi which took them just a few minutes & got the MG4 Undertray bulge on the MG fixed over a year ago under warranty with no problems other than I knew about the MG bulletin & Geoff King MG did not. As soon as I gave them the number, they checked, rang back & the car was booked in. No problem.

They have jacked up the prices that is what's happened!

Hi Clayton,

Your vehicle is required to be serviced every 2 years or 40000kms whichever one come first.

40000km service is $347.00

Thanks Tara

For anyone who wants to fit driver's side grab handles to their MG4 Excite 51's that have not come with them, I have purchased one as a spare part from MG spares (through your dealer). I have also purchased the bolts so that they can't say that I have not used genuine parts.
The part numbers are:
Grab Handle (Hanlde Asm-R/RL Frt Asst): MG-10536916-NBC
Bolts (Bolt/Screw-PS Pump to Gr Hose): MG-90000048
I have installed it as the captive nuts are in the body (MG appear to not have made body/frame changes between models,) and it was just a matter of finding the correct places to make the holes in the roof lining and getting the bolts to line up with the holes.
This will make it a lot easier to get in to my Excite 51 that did not come standard with the driver's side handle...

Very interesting that, good job. Wonder if it's the same on all, MG4s. 🙂👍

The Essence 64 that I test drove had one on the driver's side which I found helped me to get into it, as I have a disability, and was surprised to find that the Excite 51 didn't have one.

My X Power's not got one on the drivers side. Not sure about the Trophy and the SE.

I don't know about the UK models, but if you undo the weather strip a bit around the top of the door opening you can then feel above the roof lining and ascertain whether the brackets and captive nuts are there.
As I originally said, MG appear to not have made body/frame changes between models.

During a long question & answer session with me MG Australia just revealed they're working on 2 Surprising New Features, if they succeed in making these 2 things work it would make existing MG4 owners happier as well as new buyers - one of them is better LKA like the UK SC077 software update 🤞🏾
