Hi
I just bought a brand new MG4 and later discovered it had come off the production line 17 months previous.
Am I overthinking this that I got sold an old stock vehicle?
Thanks for your help.

I'd be surprised if it has sat that long as demand seems high. Average wait seem to be two weeks. I'm currently waiting too but now getting twitchy as word of an interior update is coming.

It makes me wonder why this unit has been hanging around for so long. The dealership will not answer straight questions.
What spec is it, so long as it has the upgrades such as the addition of the rear wiper, rear middle head rest etc then I wouldn't be too bothered. It should have received the latest software update too.

What is the date on the COC? It is the format MM/DD/YY. Does it have a rear wiper if it does not then it is the older MK1

Coc says 28th Feb 2023. Registered as new 4th July 2024. It's the base model SR, called Excite SR here in Ireland.
There's no rear wiper on it, do the new base models have it?

As far as Im aware all the latest specs have a rear wiper, a same model owner will confirm, Im sure.
If your unhappy and feel you have been misold, you might be better off talking to trading standard etc.

Agree, I'd be raging if I'd been sold an old stock one with none of the improvements. I'd at least want a significant discount or option to swap.

Let us know how you get on. Did you buy from an MG dealership?
MG dealership in Dublin. They started coming out with all sorts of lies and stories, when I caught them out on each point they went to ground. No response from them now.
Things are going to get messy...

Yep in theory you should have checked the build date, but in reality who does?
If you buy a new car, you expect it to be new, or at least only a couple of months old at the most. Hindsight is marvellous innit. But 17 months old is definitely not a new car, unless they offer you a really significant discount, personally I'd reject it.

Get in touch with financial ombudsman ASAP as process can take a while. I have a 6 month estimate for them to review a paint warranty claim with my wife's 1 year old audi.
