MG4 Software Update Thread

They really need to make it live here too.

As much as I like the MG4 to drive, I will not get another one when my lease is up. And almost all my concerns with the car could (and should) be addressed with software updates I can install on my driveway.

Question is: what else is updated using OTA?

Infotainment software ... looks like 1100R18* is being installed.

* Thai versions will obviously be different - but if that photo is of the poster's car then the 1100 part makes no sense as that's usually for the SE spec, at least as far as we have experienced.

It says AVN (Audio Video Navigation?) MPU (Microprocessor Unit?), so probably infotainment

You see one package being updated at the time. But that does not mean another package could not be available as well.
As an example, will they allow OTA updates of the safety systems?

Could it be this is a sort of default message with any update? The naming of the file does refer to an infotainment system update.

MG Thailand is setting the bar pretty high, first Lifetime warranties and now pushing an OTA update!

They need to take over the head office!

For the record this update had the following:
This update was MG4X only (Trophy). 900MB OTA

Update R18
There have been corrections and improvements.
1. Improve system stability and speed.
2. Improve the display and user interface to make it easier to use and understand.
3. Improve Thai language voice command system i smart
4. Improved air conditioning system and automatic windshield defogger.
5. Added Quick Start function.
6. Improved Kers system to be more stable and energy-saving.
7. Improve tire pressure system (TPMS)
8. Improved the v2l system to provide power for up to 2,200 objects.
9. Navigation system increases the accuracy and efficiency of navigation.
10. The sound system improves the sound quality.
11. Improved smartphone connectivity for both old and new models (android auto /apple car play)
12. Emergency change assistance system increases the accuracy of detecting objects and people on the road.
13. Lane Departure Warning System: Improves lane departure warning efficiency.
14. Automatic speed control system improves the smoothness of maintaining distance from the car in front.
15. Blind spot detection system increases the system's detection efficiency.
16. 180 degree front and rear cameras are clearer and smoother.
17. On the main screen shortcut, there are kers buttons and driving mode buttons to adjust on this page.



Obviously the Thai version numbering is different from UK/EU.
I was just about to pull the trigger and pay for an update in the UK so I really hope we get OTA soon!

Hi fellow Bristol MG4 Trophy owner! As a matter of interest why do you think you need to pay for the update, surely with the number of software issues it should be done by the local dealer for free (Drive MG Bristol?)

I'm actually closer to MG Gloucester (Bayliss) these days and despite a long list of issues that I provided they say that if MG does not think the update falls under warranty then you'll be charged. I think they quoted £120/hour

Just tell them bluetooth keeps disconnecting and it keeps forgetting your phone pairing

I’m so happy I got mine updated. Actually seems to be the most stable the software has been in the UK. And it did fix the Bluetooth issue
