MG4 Software Update Thread

What does R63 offer compared to r46?
I see BingBong already asked.

If it is not much, does it mean
  • No changes in the planner option to include chargers?
  • no 'quicker' LKA OFF in the pull down menu?
  • No solution for the incorrect loading of international phone numbers?
  • No solution for ACC getting 'scared' causing the car to brake?
  • I will skip the rest..

R63 is supposed to fix a lot of issues and bring the planner and the LKA off shortcut.

My dealer tell me it's supposed to fix the HVAC but first tests don't confirm this.

R63 is a small upgrade of R59 so it's not a good plan if the car works with R46.

But I insist, all modules need to be up to date for a good experience. Since April (FDR and FVCM update), ACC is adorable.

You can describe the process.
I carry out the process indicated here and it updates me to R38, but it does not update the MCU since it indicates that there is no file available. I know that the r33 MCU is 69.3.8.0 and I can't load 69.4.4.0
Thank you

I 'm supposed to have the latest acc update available since May. It still sucks. It steps on brakes like a scary dog when trucks are to left and right of me.
When overtaking trucks, at first it correctly sees me in the left lane. There is a delay in picking up speed though if you ended up within minimum range of the truck before the overtake started. But it doesn't come to the point of accelerating again. The car suddenly and briefly thinks the truck is in front of me again (as shown in the display, which it isn't of course). This triggers the system to drop the speed once more.
So I start with 100kmh to approach a truck, you get stuck and need to wait to overtake while speed drops, then you overtake and the car drops in speed again. All down to 89 kmh in some cases. It happens in every regen mode including adaptive. What is the use of an adaptive system if it does not adapt correctly? Apart from that, it also sees phantom cars.

Since the FDR and FVCM update, speed setting up 1 to 1 instead 5 to 5, ACC cruise distance is memorize and no more drops in curves and you can switch from ACC and TJA by holding MG pilot button in the steering wheel.

If you don't have this, maybe the update isn't complete. Since the last update, anytime I start my car, ACC is set in short distance (I set it like that), I play with TJA more often and use the ACC as soon as I can.

This related to BCM update and not FDR and FVCM.

Did I understand correctly that the R38 from Gdrive link is compatible with the EU MG4 SE? Can it be updated independently of the other driver assistance components, or do those also need newer versions to function properly? Is there a guide available for flashing the update? Thanks! :)

I have all this. Still plays games...

It is possible you didn't get that update - updates can silently fail to apply properly but still show as applied to the dealer. They need to check the versions afterwards to be sure but I suspect many don't.

I have had to go back twice due to incorrectly applied/completed module updates.

For what I know and my dealer told me, they updated FDR and FVCM before I get this improvements.

And I'm not the only one who gets this. I'm not telling you you're wrong but I can't agree with what you say. If it was a BCM update, why don't they tell me that ?

The FDR (Front Detection Radar) is for the ACC and the FVCM (Front View Control Module) is for TJA auto steering.

I don't think that these modules control the way that you activate/deactivate the system. Only the actual performance of the systems and how they work.

Maybe your dealer is a smart one that understands that all the systems should be up to date to complete the overall user experience.

Are you sure by that statement? If either FDR or FVCM go down you lose all driver aids that use them, I also don't think the BCM has anything to do with that system
It's normal to have radar & camera that work together to reduce glitches

I got the ACC buttons update and I don't see any behavior improvements of the ACC/TJA.

But I'm not sure what updates they did. I will ask them again at 01/25 at the first service.

BCM its like the FICM for example. It affects the way you control the the car, but not the way the systems work.

I've not been in the car enough since the update to make an informed opinion, but first impressions are that it seems better.
Sorry , can I just double check that the latest for an SE SR is R38 ? (I'm still on R33)
Will the dealer carry this out on request or only if I'm having probs ?

The latest for the UK SE is 1100R38 - it was released about a week ago. Whether or not your dealer will give you this I can't say - I have a good relationship with my dealer and they simply did it at the service last week. (I don't know if the HVAC update requires also an Infotainment update due to the changed scaling of the temperature range - my dealer didn't say, they simply did it).
