MG4 Software Update Thread

You mean if you set the maximum charge level in the app? Or in the car?
I mean in the car! It still works if I set it up from the app.

I wonder if this is not just an interface bug they oversaw somehow? I mean, they seem to have overhauled the way it is represented on screen, as it is some sort of text in a bubble, but now the text is a bit different and in a blue colour.

Has anyone been able to edit the files in the packages folks here have managed to obtain? As it is an Android interface I presume some fix could be made by coders with the right skills - there's a thread on XDA in which someone used the keyboard glitch to get access to the internal Android of the car, install a macro app, and then use macros to turn on / off the features we usually interact with at the start of the car (namely LKA, traffic sign recognition, one pedal drive...).

If that's something you are interested in you could use payload dumper & img extractor to get the apk's & just replace the charger manager with one from R59

This is a vague statement. Is it emergency braking? Or is it ACC taking control earlier/harder?
Not absolutely to the point but my March 23 Trophy has had no recent updates but has suddenly started activating emergency braking when it, ACC and, of course, LKA are all seemingly switched off.

Different system, have you made sure the the windscreen is clean & clear where the camera is

How are people finding R63?
Someone i see around has just had it installed , still buggy but car now has habit of emergency braking when it thinks you are not slowing down enough of car in front.
Then need to Park and back to drive to move again.

Feels mostly the same except for the re-shaped Apple CarPlay screen and the LKA from Drop Down shortcut menu.

Haven’t really noticed anything else!

That's the only incident/evidence of OTA being used in an MG4 anywhere in the world. ;)

......so far that's been reported on the web. Most owners don't post about their cars on forums such as this or similar.

Also there is this example, firmware, looks like underlying modules/firmware updated rather than infotainment:

We only have fred4009's word for this .🤔
....and only the word of a few on here that it didn't and yet none were present at the time, same as the example in Thailand and probably others that don't report on the internet, like most car owners.

That’s anecdotal evidence that software updates can occur OTA. However, how this happened is debatable, and we can’t determine much from these pictures.

In any case, the only modules capable of being updated OTA are the MPU and MCU. All other modules require a physical connection for updates, either via SIPS or direct connection to the TBox.

This is a huge disappointment, especially as updates are often performed in a chaotic way by dealers, leaving many cars with outdated modules coexisting alongside ECUs that have been updated to the latest version.

My educated guess is that many gremlins users are experiencing come from mismatches between different modules rather than actual programming bugs (excluding the R63 charge limit bug 🙊).

This would also provide a reasonable explanation for the behaviour differences between our cars.

It was a mistake, he thought he had an OTA update...
