MG4 Software Update Thread

actually enabled OPD just now as I'm at 67% but to be honest it's ways to invasive. I'm kind of ok with either level 1 or Auto on the regen mode. ACC brings the car to a stop in traffic so which is how my Ioniq worked.

Just annoying it sets to 3 every time so need to remember to press the star on the wheel as I've setup that shortcut.

Called the garage and feel a bit fobbed off. They said the system had no pending updates for my reg but because it's a lease I need to request it through the lease company to be approved etc. Ill sort that Monday.

some dealers are better than others.
I didn’t bother with the lease company. I called the dealer, they were super helpful and knew what to ask to make me say what they needed to hear to make sure I got it all upgraded under warranty.

Hi everyone. First post. Just had an MG4 SE lease delivered. My software is on 1100R21.

Seems reading this thread this is quite old?

I'm noticing odd things like the regen mode is always 3 when I start.

The Traffic Jam assist is super jittery.

Bluetooth phone issues.

No outside temp displayed.

I have a one pedal drive toggle but I can never enable. Says low charge or something.

I'm going to ring the dealer and see if they can do an upgrade but before I do just wondering is this number actually low or is there different variants as I don't have Nav.

Thanks
Hi same as me, new 24 plate lease car delivered and software r21 don't understand why so out of date. Good luck with lease company mine don't want to know, no service due and Bluetooth not a major problem...... dealer didn't supply so don't seem terribly interested either.

Thanks. The latter part I was looking for.
Why 'a security featurec of AA does not allow for a security feature of the car to be used is beyond me though ..
It is not a feature of Android Auto, it is a security feature of the Android OS running in the infotainment. AA overlays can be used by a malicious application to deceive you clicking for actions you do not intend to do...

It would make more sense to allow you to decide if you want to enable our disable that security feature, but I guess that MG made that decision for the general public to avoid complaints of computer illiterate users swallowing some scam and blaming MG

I do not understand your question, but this is the behaviour of R59:
You can drop down the AC screen pulling down the centre of the screen, and the quick menu access to ELK, ESP, WiFi, hotspot, etc pulling down the top right corner.

HOWEVER, none of those pull-down shortcuts work if you are on the Android Auto screen, as the Android version of R59 does not allow overlays in Android Auto mode by design (security feature). You have to go first to the home screen to be able to pull down those menues.
TBH I think I preferred the original pre R46 design that didn't have the MG bar at the top and gave you that bit extra to be used by AA. Pressing the home button to access car functions was never a big problem, and climate controls could be accessed with the steering wheel controls.

Can you press the fog light screen button with R59? I guess as its outside the AA area thats ok?

FWIW, with 1100R33 on the SE (which implements the same reduced height screen for AA/CP, and adds the LDP On/Off toggle to the pull down menu) the pull down menu does work fine. This means either:

a) the earlier comment re. Android vs overlays is incorrect, and it's simply a bug in 1300R59; or
b) 1100R33 implements a different revision of Android vs 1300R59

I do not think that a notification from the dealer about the Android overlay on r59 is wrong. And at least one person on r59 confirmed it. I guess it's b).

SCUK001 (in the UK) updates a variety of things, ACC being one of them. I don't recall if it included an update to LKA.

It isn't good enough. 2 years in and the updates are still a shambles.

It will be interesting to see if things are different with the Cyberster, it is rumoured to have OTA updates from the start and to use different tech.

This is still the reason I wouldn't have another MG EV as things stand. The software side just isn't good enough.
Agreed. The software situation is part of the reason why I'm already considering how to move to my next car, even though I will probably wait. The software side of this car is just intolerably poor, and the fact you have to go through dealers to try and get the poor updates there are just makes it worse (considering they like to bounce you or fob you off).

I do like large parts of the car, but especially compared to my old Hyundai's the LKA/TJA is borderline broken, I've had some fairly horrendous phantom breaking, the touch screen and system is generally a bit slow and doesn't feel great, I've had issues with some chargers which are obviously working just refuse to work with the car etc.
On top of that, I randomly just get system errors which clear when I restart my car, it's baffling, infuriating and frustrating.

Throw on top their is no heatpump and frankly efficiency isn't quite what was promised IMO, I honestly am borderline looking forward to moving on.
If I could have had this car's hardware, with the sensibilities and working software of my old Hyundai's I'd have been sold. They just worked.
This car does not.

What do I do if my dealer refuses to do an update unless their diagnostic shows a fault? I booked it in with multiple issues, screen going blank, Bluetooth loss, volume maxing out at 6 and AC thermostat way off but it needs to show up on the day before they do anything as "an update when it doesn't need it could cause a problem."

What to do?

Do not buy ever again an MG, and tell everybody how bad is the customer service in your country.

That's the only way to avoid bad standard practices to spread; the "all the brands are the same" denial just makes things worse.

A good customer service does not make you waste time arguing and raising formal complaints about an obvious defect.

Getting things done by suing is not fit for Western societies.

I called another dealer and got out booked in for a check over at least. Said the fact the then always dealt the the strongest setting is a safety risk. Not until the end of July though.

I prefer regen at 3 for shorter trips/city driving, which is like 80% of my use. For long trips using ACC I switch it to adaptive, from my shortcut on steering wheel.

But I agree that it would be nice if it saved the previous settings.
