MG4 Software Update Thread

I'm gonna book my MG4 Exclusive (In Ireland, i think its called Trophy in UK) in for its first service in a week or two and I currently have R40 firmware. Only problem I have rally is the bluetooth unpairs every so often at random. The LKA is a bit sudden but nothing I've had a problem with.

Should I request a firmware update, what is the latest version (R46?) and what good and bad comes with it, any new features worth getting?

Latest Trophy update is R59.

R46 should fix the bluetooth issues

However I noticed I was still having issues with it when using a wireless AA dongle. When just phone and car it has been solid

I was in Frank Keane last week saying I still had issues with bluetooth and they said r46 was the latest but perhaps the person didn't realise r59 is available. I'd ask specifically for that version as it has the LKA shut off in the pull down menu

However r59 also means that you cannot use the pull down menu in android auto anymore. Google now require no other apps to draw over AA

Question is if Ireland follows the EU or UK. If it's EU, than r46 it is ...

There is for sure a software solution for AA hindering the dropdown menu. But MG must feel the urge to deliver it.

That must be something specific to 1300R59 then, as 1100R33 (which also has the LKA Off in the pull down menu) works perfectly fine on my SE SR when I'm using Android Auto. ?‍♂️

And yes, my AA is up to date (as much as Android 10 supports anyway).

What's the latest version I should ask the dealer for? MG4 SE LR. I'd like to be able to see the outside temperature and sort the intermittent bluetooth issue. Thanks

Just had my March 23 trophy updated today R59. Took car to WH Brand in Whaplode Drove, Lincolnshire. Finally found an MG tech with software knowledge! He was great, performed loads of updates on my ACC, LKA, etc. Car worked like a dream on the way back. Apple CarPlay didn’t drop out and the ACC was smooooth. Nice update!

My MG4 has been booked in by my lease company to a service centre that calls itself a 'main dealer alternative' which when I look on their website doesn't even list MG as one of the car makes they service. What are the odds I am going to get updates even if I ask for it?

Why don't call them and ask, I'm sure they will be happy to explain what they can or can't do.

Not that dealer, but same experience. Just had Trophy to R59 (and anything else they could do). Overall smoother driving/braking. Don't use ACC, but now use AutoHold - much better experience. When exploring everything again a real noticeable is that some screens have a back button and others dont. Guess which is a real PITA.....

As @AndyL61 said call them. Also ask if they can do the software updates as some of the updates are safety related.

Out of curiosity has anyone seen if you can download the updates from the mg site if you buy access? If so is it all of them or some of them?
Anyone still have the R46 files? Anyone tried installing them?

Thanks

A personal login to RMI won’t do it, it needs to be a company login.
Then you can download SIPS and if you’ve got the dongle, plug in the car and download the updates.

If only there was some sort of interconnected network the car could join and get the updates itself.... ?
Going forward this could be a selling point! They could promise to people that the car would be able to receive updates at any time!
Maybe somehow if it wasn't even plugged into anything it could still have software updates.
Ah, who are we kidding...
