MG4 Software Update Thread

Finally managed to update
I've reverted back to R33. I do know a fair bit about it from a Computer Science background but to be honest I have to agree that all it would take is a mismatch in ECU software and the front end and it could end in tears! Ive seen many android custom roms go wrong in pretty spectacular ways and the device often ended up in the bin so I think everyone needs to tread carefully!
Managed to finally update ECU with a fat32 formatted 8gb drive 🤣

we agree that the photo below is ok for an MG4 std V1 in France?
THANKS

Hi all,

I'm a Mac user, does that make a difference at all as I'm getting the below error when trying to unzip

Thanks

I feel like I'm going something wrong, these are the files I get when I unzip, sorry, not good with this sort of stuff.

Which one do I put onto the USB drive ?
Thanks

You must put at the root of the USB key:
  • The AVN_MPU folder that integrates the usb_ota_update.zip file
  • The file vipimage.bin
  • The file md5_check.txt
I too have a Mac and you won't be able to do it directly : Windows or other by formatting in FAT32.
I'm using Ubuntu with Parallels and I've managed to install R59.

i m using r46(downgraded from r59) and mcu 68.3.4.0 at the moment. Can we update mcu version to 68.3.7.0 with usb update? I tried with r59 package but no luck unfortunately.

as i know if we update mcu to 68.4.7.0, we can using acc cosmetic update which is acc speed change 1 kmh per click also quick change acc/tja switch with wheel icon. Am i correct?

If i am correct how can i update mcu version to 68.4.7.0 ? Anyone have it correct usb software packet for this process?

This is why I'm nervous and I'm confused again.

What does Root of USB key actually mean ?

When I download I get the below files

What do I do next ?

Thanks

The MCU file in the online R59 archive is unfortunately 68.4.3.0, so there’s no way to upgrade to 68.4.7.0 using this file.

Root means the first part of the drive you see when you look at it in File Explorer (or MAC equivalent). For example open file explorer on a Windows PC and look at the C drive ... what you see is the root of the drive, which contains many files and folders. Same applies for a USB drive.

Finally I managed to also update the MCU, copying the two files and the folder to the root of the USB and with the vehicle in P.
My MG4 Standard has version now 1100R38 and mcu 69.4.4.0
is the most up to date version (R38) for standard model?

Thanks, I understand what "Root" means now :)

It looks like I need to put the following on the USB drive, is that correct, sorry if this is really basic

vipimage.bin
md5_check.txt
AVN_MPU folder
