MG4 Software Update Thread

Is it really a temperature difference? to me it feels that after 20/30 minutes in the car, the hvac starts to blow significantly colder then it did at the beginning of the ride...
But this behaviour was the same on R46, 59 and 63, so it's not (only) a FICM issue
I always knew there were two issues with the heatpump (UK versions do not have a HP).
The first is the T offset. They claim to have fix it it. But I have my doubts. They may have simply reduced the displayed value. But that is something I can test before and after they upgrade my car. I'm still on R46 with separate modules from May 2024.

The second is that the HP is an on/off version as it just an aircon with an additional system to invert it to a heater. There is no resistance heater on EU versions. Once a set T is reached (whatever it is) it simply shuts down the heating function and goes into classic aircon mode. This is why you feel cold air coming in. This is particularly frustrating in the winter with cold air and near 100% humidity outside.

I thought it could be useful to have a thread for software update news. I am collecting my car tomorrow and have a feeling that I will be back several times for software updates. Perhaps we can use this thread to keep each other informed when updates appear (I wouldn't rely on my dealer to be on the ball with this)
I wouldn't get excited about software updates. The few there have been have only made the car worse. Lane assist keeps jumping on, it used to be you could turn it off & it stayed off. Soooo dangerous trying to drag you into Potholes, People & Parked Cars. Certainly the most dangerous car I've ever driven (MG4) can't wait to get rid.

With the latest updates, you can now disable it directly from the swipe-down menu.

Although I share your frustration of not being able to easily or permanently disabling LKA, this system never ran me into people or parked cars. LKA has become considerably milder as well. And for now, I accept Alert mode as it does not interfere with my steering.
Yes, things could be better. But do know that even 10k+ more expensive cars also suffer from the so called "poor assistance systems".

For those of you who may want to try engineering mode for own updates, I found interesting posts:
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation, have not tried, I don't have the knowledge to recommend. I'm just sharing an interesting find, product of idle browsing.
Not willing now, but may try sometime in future, ...or not

I figured out why I had a little USB symbol alongside the other status icons on my display. The garage has left the USB key with R63 in my MG4. Strangely my windows PC doesn't recognise the drive but I can see it on my Chromebook. It's labelled R46 but I think that's unlikely given that they updated me to R63. Checksoc.txt has SWI68-29958-1300R63 which confirms my opinion.

So question is: does the stick contain the latest of all modules, apart from the r63 interface?

I don't think so. I am not sure how to check but it looks like it's just the infotainment software. This is all they updated for me when I was in and I expect that's all that's on the flash...

Would be interesting if the 68.4.7.0 MCU is actually on the stick ... perceived wisdom (from what I've read here) is that the MCU now only updates via SIPS. 🤷‍♂️

Hello everyone, for MAJ, everything is OK on my side:

Only thing, I can't update the software concerning the BMS

do you have an idea?

It would be cool to have a clear post to update all modules, not jut the FCIM.

I've hear about a bunch of people going to official technical service and getting updated only the infotainment center, causing bugs.

I'm engineer so I'd rather updating it myself if possible.

I'm about to, because the bluetooth sucks. Why should I get bugs vs my old r46 update?

Quick question
My MG4 is running "Entertainment System version SWI68-29958-1300R46".

What is the latest fw right now?
Best regards from Sweden

Check the other thread linked here for VDI updates using SIPs
