Have to say, I posted all about my new motor, on the couple of Merc forum's I'm on. They have a non-merc section. And pretty much everyone liked it, some really liked it. Which is nice. ?
Don't get get me wrong, if someone didn't like it, or indeed hated it, that's fair enough, we all like different things.
But the overall consensus was a definite thumbs up. ???

What’s not to like? There’s a big anti-MG brigade out there but when I’ve mentioned having one on order and people look it up I’ve not had one negative response. Bottom line is there’s simply nothing to compare it with in terms of bang for your buck. ?

My Missus hates it with a passion, wouldn't even get in it for 3 weeks after I got it.

She hates the colour, hates that it's an EV, subscribes to the "it's going to catch file and kill us squad", hates that it feels cheap compared to the Merc (which is it to be fair), hates that the passenger chair can't be height adjusted, hates that she catches her legs on the side skirts when getting in and they are either wet or dirty, hates that she can't lift the boot lid as it's too heavy

Congrats on your purchase (finally ???) ... hope you enjoy and have lots of fun (as I'm sure you will ?). Time for all the mods now .... it's a slippery slope once you start !

I think MG have shot thereselves in the foot by discounting the X Powers.

I for one, will now not be rushing out to have the all new, non vibey, zero software niggle, 800bhp, levitating, warp speed new one, when it becomes available.

I will be waiting for a good 12 months before purchase.

Oh, and that's if I haven’t decided to abandon MG for a more attentive and customer orientated alternative brand.

If MG start putting solid state batteries in their products in 2025, then they are potentially going to be able lose around 100kg in weight to achieve the same range or for the same weight increase the range by 75%. In theory the more sports oriented models would benefit more from weight loss than range extension.

In terms of pricing the EV market is definitely not found any sort of equilibrium yet and while the tech keeps changing in relatively short timescales the industry may have to move to a new sales structure, closer to the mobile phone market where you have the option to buy or replace every year or so in the knowledge the tech will be obsolete within 5-10 years.

Yes, although solid state batteries will initially be expensive and raise the price or be reserved for high end ranges like the IM brand.

A lease is essentially a subscription plan for a car, so arguably it already exists.

Looks like there's some bird poo etching on top of the passenger door mirror (any offers on how best to sort that on the piano black finish would be welcome)​

Couple of minor spots on centre console/dash that haven't wiped off with a mico-fibre cloth (again, any advice)​

Appears to be Nov '23 build date and has r40 installed (although allegedly with latest module updates for LKA and ACC). Yet to take for a proper run (play) to determine if there's any immediate software issues etc...

Congrats on your purchase ??.

Bird poo removal is a matter of starting weak and getting stronger until it eventually goes.

1. First try water spot spot remover (like 50/50 white vinegar/water).
2. Try a hand polish with Autoglym SRP (Super Resin Polish).
3. Using a machine polisher with 3" pads and a cutting compound gently go over the area and repeatedely buff off the polish to see if it's gone. Repeat as necesssary if progress is made.
4. Failing that I have wet sanded the area with 2500 wet sanding paper with gently straight line movements followed by step 3 to bring back the shine of the paint and Step 2 to refine the finish to a nice glossy black finish. Then give them some protection - spray sealant etc...

The longer it's been there in hot sun the more it can etch the paint.

For future bird poo incidents have some MF cloths and detailing spray in the boot to wipe off asap - soak any dried on bits by placing a damp MF cloth or kitchen roll over the poo for about 15 minutes to soften it up.

Yep, bird shit needs to be removed as soon as. Particularly if it's been eating Blackberries. ???
