MG4 X Power Vibe/Hum 65 to 75mph

I had a very long run in the car yesterday on the motorway, I had time to play around with it a bit. I had said before that ot only seems to be on hard acceleration between 68 and 75 mph. It seems to be getting a little worse. Could be a multitude of things for that such as tire pressure wear etc.

However what I did notice was that it only seemed to happen in normal. I didn't try snow but eco and sport, I couldn't feel it, unless I told my brain to think that.

To me it feels more like it's a de-harmonisation of the two motors which seems to resync after a second or two at around 75-80 mph.

So we need to notify the dealer now though to ensure we are eligible for the suspension change if they deem it to be that? I've not mentioned it yet because it's not that bad in my car.

If you have read all the posts m8 you will see that we have discussed everything including what your suggesting at some point.

I would suggest you do at least tell your dealer about it, but tell them you don't want anything done until there is a fully sanctioned guaranteed fix from SAIC.

This vibration is also present in the Chinese version of the MG4 X-Pwoer. We have ruled out a problem with the front tires, and the vibrations can be easily felt on the steering wheel when traveling at 110km/h. Disappears below 100km/h.

Nope.
We have a chap from China with a Mulan Thruster (X Power equivalent)

He has always had vibes and hasn't been on here for a while.

Mine had bad vibes from 57 to 73 mph from day 1. Steering wheel vibrates, LCD buzzes and squeeks on it mounts, passenger side floor pan resonates, keys in centre boxes rattle. It wouldn't be so bad but that is typical cruising speed. Totally unacceptable on a modern car, especially and EV. A 70's diesel maybe.

Reported it to the leasing company on day 5 and reminded them on day 25. Hoped it would get better and tried all the things mentioned on here to no avail. Before the 30 days was up I told them I was going to reject the car. They are still stalling.

A couple of weeks ago they asked me to get it booked in with the local MG dealer. They would not even book it in as there was no fix available for my chassis number on the service database. After many, many phone calls and weeks later they expect a "steering damper upgrade" in mid August !! Anybody know what this is ? Rumour has it doesn't work anyway, it was tried last year in Australia.

Well in this case my vibration is nothing like yours. You can feel it slightly in the steering wheel but there is no other major resonance around the vehicle. I asked my partner is she could feel it and she wasn't sure what I was even talking about.

If you have read all the posts m8 you will see that we have discussed everything including what your suggesting at some point.

I would suggest you do at least tell your dealer about it, but tell them you don't want anything done until there is a fully sanctioned guaranteed fix from SAIC.

I have read all of the posts mate, this isn't my first time posting under this thread, just thought I'd give an update from my previous posts. I'll alert my dealer and tbf, I don't want them to touch anything that ain't very broken as cars all to often come back with more issues than they went on with lol.

Fingers crossed for a fix but on my side it's really to mild for me to not be able to live with.

Much has been written on the subject.

This is a very heavy car and higher pressures are the norm.

Besides the cars balance is 50/50 and running pressures that the tyres are designed to run will not cause you any issues.

40psi has been identified as the optimum pressure for reducing vibrations in cars with the problem.

None of us have quite got our finger on the "why" but it does work for some.

My friends car has zero vibes and mine have been very much reduced to almost nil.

Run what your happy with.

interesting... i would try to use 40 and hopefully it minimize the vibes. in my case they are minimal with no dramas, but still exist so i would be happy for them to disappear

just to clarify on the "brakes/discs" - i recall someone here got his discs changed and it solved the issue for him?

ps: was doing some short morning drive today and to my surprise didn't have any vibes... is it a miracle?

I don't remember ever getting to the bottom of the brake disc theory tbh.

And yes, you'll get that.

Some days my vibes are completely gone.

Next day, same road, same speed, same temperature, I'll notice a very slight vibe.

And then I think.....
It's all in your bloody Swede!!!

But it's not.

They definitely come and go on different days, different roads, different times.

That's just one of the reasons I think it's proving so difficult to pin down and eradicate.

Looks great to my eye, and with a much better appointed interior.

Yes, X Power will roll more because of its higher C.O.G. and you will feel like your not supported when pushing on, due to the much less sporty seat.

I've punished my brakes when pushing on and I don't recall any fade, smoke or anything else for that matter!

I would like to have seen another 20K spent on tarting up the X Power to match the fixture, fittings and lovely looking 6 pots on the Cyberster.......

But then I wouldn’t have bought it as 55K would be too much for this retired household!

In the look around video the fatigue sensor is showing, but later in the video he has taped it over.
I wonder why?

The fatigue sensor on the original Phase 1 Trophy was a total disaster with constant nagging and no way to turn it off. They quickly stopped fitting it in the factory and then a software update came out (later) to disable it on any cars that had it.

Might be a repeat of the same problems, I am sure it is only there for EuroNCAP reasons, almost certainly the Chinese version doesn't have it and so the software to control it will have been engineered over here and just done.

If the Cyberster doesn't have a better software update solution, I'd be quite concerned.

And on that point, the way he was jabbing away at the not immediately reacting top screens seemed familiar!!

And then on the flip side the climate screen seemed very quick, and easily as fast as my phone screen reacts!??

Sorry to dissapoint, but the damper is a damp sqib I'm afraid.

Has been tried and failed.

Still waiting for something definitive and proven from SAIC/MG.

I honestly don't want to sound negative but I don't really think there will be a fix. I think what they have fixed on newer models can only be changed at build, not retro.

Telling us that there is a fix just keeps us quiet as we wait patiently, until we ask again and are told again that there will be a fix... yada yada yada. SAIC are keeping thier heads down.

I collected my car Oct 23 and it's now nearly July 24, if there was a retro fix, I'm sure it would have been sorted by now.

I've had my SE 19 months now and there's still no official fix (in the UK) for the bulging rear undertray. (Mine has only a small bulge ... oo-er missus). So you X-Power folks still have a long wait to go yet.

The dealer here in Hong Kong have my wheels balanced and it seems a bit better but the "thing" is still there. I guess we will have to live with it.

We have been told "it's a characteristics of the car" by MG and "not a safety concern so pipe down and get back in your box". I'm sure if it wasn't there, my driving experience and range would improve as there must be friction zapping my battery somewhere.
