Hi all

New to the forum, although have already posted about an unbind issue I'm having.

Retirement means that my company car goes at the end of the month and having had a PHEV I installed a Podpoint Solo 3 last year so no brainier to get an EV.

MG4 was the obvious choice having done alot of research on the car last year when picking a new company vehicle but decided to go the PHEV route.

I've bought a 73 plate Trophy in Camden Grey. Looks pretty smart, drives lovely and handles really well. It has the 18 in wheels and rear wiper. Impressed at how solid it is but some interior plastics seem prone to scratching. I fitted a rear passenger light, stuck to the roof lining which had fallen off by the morning! Any suggestions on this one?

I've had the LKA snatch the wheel out of my hands a couple of times now, so need to remember to turn it off. Have also discovered that cross traffic braking is pretty severe so may set this to alert only.

Having checked the firmware this is R40 and understand that this has been updated. Does newer firmware resolve any issues? I had read somewhere that one update added a disable LHA to the swipedown shortcut menu but I'm not sure if that accurate.

Lots to learn but so far pretty happy with my purchase.

Welcome welcome. First off, the newest software for the infotainment is r63 , and I suggest you speak to the dealership about the lka service recall update because your post suggests this hasn't been done (still being on r40 infotainment would suggest the same imo)

Infotainment updates aren't automatic ... you usually have to complain about issues that an update might fix (e.g. Bluetooth pairing issues) otherwise the dealer won't get paid for doing it from MG.

@Simon Smith, Good colour and trim choice.
For the rear passenger light, I bought a USB light from Temu which plugs into the socket on the back of the centre console between the front seats. It is touch on and off and has white LEDs facing both upwards and downwards. The car just has to be in the "on" state by pressing on the drivers seat.

Never thought of getting one that plugs into the USB socket. Thanks. The lights I have is a twin pack of rechargeable lights but won't stick to the headlining so I've stuck it on the door till I've found something better.

I quite like the idea of some ambient light so may look at that too.

As for colour choice, I really liked the red but I wanted to buy from a local dealer in case of issues and they had a grey one, second choice of colour with very low mileage.

yeah I did this too works a treat. I like the slightly darker colours. I got these ones.

I did also buy a USB splitter so a passenger can still charge their phone.

I had mine updated on its first service recently.
I was prompted by a member of staff at the dealership to request updates to the infotainment system and driving assistance by way of asking me quite pointedly if I'd experienced any screen glitches or blackouts and any problems with snatchy steering. I had, so both were updated free of charge.
Huge improvement in the driving, almost no snatched steering since the update. I haven't noticed much difference in the infotainment screen but I hardly look at it anyway.
My x-power is in Camden grey too and I love it. Such an anonymous colour until it's streaking past something noisy!

To be honest, I've seen the complaints re infotainment screen and software issues and while I understand them, they really haven't bothered me, unlike the lane keep assist thing. That was truly annoying. I'm used to software glitches having owned Alfa Romeo's for 20 years. My last one before the X-Power was a Giulia Veloce 280. A beautiful car inside and out, great to drive, a luxurious cruiser that turned into a sports car whenever you wanted it to. But every now and again I'd get in and the infotainment screen was in Italian! I had to reset it a few times. Just an Alfa thing and part of the charm.
So the MG glitches haven't bothered me, especially when I think that this is 2 seconds faster to 60, cost me £10k less to buy and has cost me less than £100 to run it for a year!

Keep on your side of the road and lka is ok, there is a recall update to make it less severe for those that can’t drive correctly

That is unreasonably harsh and unnecessarily condescending. There are a myriad of situations where LKA could intervene, regardless of the quality of the driving. Before the SC077 update the LKA implementation was overly sensitive in detection and overly intrusive in operation; afterwards it is now like most every other manufacturer's LKA implementation.
