Hi all, new here but I have just ordered an X Power in Red.

Should be with Dealer in November apparently a car “in uk stock”.

I only started doing real research after ordering and came across the vibration issue.

My question for you guys is what should I check on vehicles arrival or should it be very obvious there is an issue on test drive?

Any other known point I should go through when taking delivery?

I will have the option to cancel the vehicle which I really hope I don’t have to do as having sat on one I quite liked it.

The other thing bamboozling me it’s that of all the YouTube reviews I’ve watched of the car from Uk, Australia and Asian market nobody seems to mention it.

Any advice appreciated

Scott

Drive from 60-70 mph and see if you feel it. Also accelerate hard through 50-70, my mate had a go in mine and he immediately asked what the vibration is, can't miss it really

Personally I would spend as long as possible checking as much as possible before signing / paying.

If you are allowed I would insist on a test drive before purchase so that you can spend around 10 minutes cruising at 67-70mph on a dual c/w or motorway. It could save you months and months of frustation as MG will not fix your car even if you have a "bad" one as they consider it just a characteristic of the Xpower. They seem to vary in vibration severity between cars. You would have to fight for rejection as they (MG UK) deny it is a fault.

Other things to check / do :-

  • Get the dealer to setup and pair your MG Ismart App with the car.
  • Check when the car was built - ask the dealer for the Certificate of Conformity (usually in the glovebox in a pack and it has the date of manufacture stamped on it in YYYY-DD-MM format (American date format). Anything before November 2023 could well have the vibes, (and even after in some cases) !
  • Check underneath for any large bulges in the undertray
  • Check under the bonnet for a soundproofing pad
  • Check for any loud noises when turning on and running the aircon

Plus all the other usual new car checks 👍

Thanks very much guys, it will be a lease vehicle so it will be the usual of a trailer at the front door affair as opposed
To the main dealer balloons and pizaz.

I’ll certainly get through most of that list. I tend to keep vehicles for 3 years these days as for most of my 30 years of driving I’ve mainly driven cars about 15 years old that I hold together myself.

Normally I go for 10000 miles with shuddering brakes or a wheel out of balance and just get used to it. So chances are is I may not even notice if it’s subtle 😀

Have a search of the forum there are a couple of post with handover checklists.

Essentially press every button and check all the HVAC works as it should. Do a test AC and DC charge as soon as possible.

And as it's an XPower make sure you and any passengers have a change of underwear and some earplugs if they scream if you want to go faster.

A bit more here :-

Plus check you have two keys that both have proper physical keys to open your door in case of a flat 12V battery 👍
