MG4 Trophy LR
Hi,

I took delivery of an MG4 Trophy LR on Christmas Eve, just wondering how much the servicing costs are each year in the UK, the dealer has offered me a servicing plan - just curious if its worth taking out

Also, so far, so good - love the car, obviously early days, but very happy with it

Thanks

John

I can’t really help with MG4 prices, but I pay £7.52 per month for 4 years servicing for my ZS. No MOTs included, but as it’s an MG dealership, I get the AA MG breakdown renewed for another year included. I’m very satisfied with that.

My advice would be to ring round any dealerships that you would be prepared to travel to, and get their prices.

You would be protected from future price rises with a service plan too.

Probs worth it for the included AA cover.

Go on to the MG UK website and you can select service plans on there.

If you buy from a specific dealer and they go out of business or lose the MG franchise you could end up with a problem (very unlikely though?!)

I've lost track of current prices as they seem to have risen quite a lot since I bought mine 18 months ago. They seem to vary wildly by area/dealer. I paid £430 ish for 3 services and 1 MOT when services were £120 for an interim (years 1 & 3), £180 for a main (year 2)and £50 for a MOT. A couple of months ago, SWMBO's 4th service on her MG5 was £295, which included a transmission oil change.

In theory taking out a service plan now that locks in prices is going to be a good idea

The price of parts is going to rise at about the rate of inflation
The price of mechanics time is going to rise in line with wage inflation and the new national insurance rules

If you know any car parts that cost less now than a year ago or any mechanics who charge less for their time than a year ago then might not be worth taking out the plan. The only other consideration is if the plan price is much more than any possible price increases

Admin fee? To me that's a scam - like when WBAC say "Admin fee may apply" in their adverts I always reply "Admin fee won't apply". I never accept any admin fee.
As said by others it's best to shop round your local dealers as prices are vastly different. I've found it cheaper to pay year by year as opposed to service plans. Plus you'll get free AA cover.

I paid £399 for 3 services plus first MOT ... 2 services already completed. I was happy with that price, especially as it also renewed MG Assist (AA) each year. :)

I paid more than that but they will also collect the car and provide a courtesy car and free puncture repairs, which I have unfortunatly had to use.

You get MG Assist AA cover if your car is serviced at MG service centres whether you have a service plan or ‘pay as you go’. My 4 year plan is costing just over £360, paid monthly, with the breakdown cover, but no MOTs.
I think it’s a bargain!
