New Zealand owner

To other Kiwi owners, Tesla is now allowing limited access to their charging network in NZ. Not super cheap $0.99 without membership and $0.89 with, but that’s not too appalling compared with Chargenet at $0.85 for the >= 150 kW bays.

Add the $10/mo membership for non Tesla owners... It's quite costly.
I'm seriously considering to take Genesis EV plan ($0.36/kWh). It would work for us very well. Can you utilize the 150kW charger with the MG4?

140 kW max, a bit faster than typical 50 kW chargers…

You don’t have to pay the membership fee, the ad hoc price is $0.99 per kW/hr. Handy if you’re in a hurry.

There are a bunch of Tesla 140 kW chargers near Hagley Park. They are $0.97 for casual charging but worth a small splurge to experience the high rate (you’d need to download the app but it’s free).

Yeah, I have no need to charge while I'm "home", I mean I easily can cover my daily commute from my solar (maybe not during winter), and DC charging is mainly for trips... It will be worth trying at least to see how much charge the "small" car can take.

This is great news. Tesla seems to have the best locations with the most reliable chargers from what ive heard. Help avoid the chances of being caught out on a long road trip

I've seen 85 kW on mine, someone else reported getting 90 kW. I think MG quote 88 kW.

Originally they quoted 117 kW for the Phase 1 SE SR. ;)

But we all know this was a dream rather than a reality. :)

Australia/New Zealand specs for what you Brits call the Mk II or 2023 models are:

Excite 51 88 kW
Excite and Essence 64 140 kW
Long Range 77 144 kW

The first three only do 6.6 kW on AC single phase while the Long Range does 11 kW AC on three phase.

Yeah, the problem is not the peak, IMO the issue is the way how it is start to throttle back. I usually use 50kW charger (that's the most common where I travel and time were not so crucial), my max was around 43kW, then above 80% it was back to 26kW descending.... Not sure if it is the car, or the charger. I saw charging curve for the MG4 and seems a bit odd in the real life.

I can live with that, no problem. It will take a long time before real fast chargers getting common around here. I know there are some (see above). Until that... it's just fine.

Bjørn says "charge like a boss":

As @Rolfe posted, pretty flat to 50% which is good. I've seen 138 142 kW real world.

Edit: Updated with latest charging experience…

Let's be careful to separate the 51 kWh LFP battery from the 64 kWh NMC battery. Very different chemistries, very different performance, very different animals. Nobody with the 51 kWh battery is going to see anywhere near 140 kW.

Yeah, he tested the 51 kWh version in Asia, I can't remember whether he mentioned the charging speed or not.

Two months? In Scotland, I bought my car in April 2023. I was told it had had all the latest software installed that morning. Actually it was on R13, when the latest even then was R16. I wasn't bothered, R16 was a piece of crap anyway. But if I'm supremely lucky, I'm going to pick up a car with R33 on it (the holy grail for SE owners) this afternoon. Over 16 months later.
