Maybe I'll get a really good Christmas present though?...................

Hoping you get a very good Xmas present still 🤞👍

Any further updates ?

Its absolutely staggering that @Brettus is still without his car.

What a complete and utter shambles the insurance industry is in this country.

It's a complete racket and all about maximising profits for the companies involved.

It took two years to complete a case for me from start to finish a few years ago, and recently my friends case was 14 months from being knocked off his bike to the return of said bike.

Shambles.

And what I mean by maximising profits is that his insurance company made £9000 of the 3rd party (who were at fault) with just his hire bike charges alone.

Whilst I agree with you about the shambles, I dont quite see how they can make £9000 on hire charges?
Hire charges for courtesy vehicles arranged via the first party's insurer/accident management company tend to be charged at a far higher rate than the third party's insurer would be able to arrange. (The 1st party insurer/AMC get a kick-back from the hire companies - allegedly. Whether this would equate to £9k over ~14 months I've no idea). This is one of the big complaints insurers make to support higher insurance costs, yet they're all at it.

60 weeks X £150 per week.
You do the maths!!

I imagine a hire car would be another 100 to £150 per week on top?

Sometimes they win......(if the insured is not to blame for example)

That's the scam.

Some of the "claims management" firms are the worst.

They look for any excuse to drag things out because they are in it to make money.

"TEEVES"

The latest is all the parts arrived, it’s getting/awaiting some calibration then it’ll get transferred back from the MG dealer in Hyde to Wrexham and after they’ve done the final bits (no idea what) they’ll be in touch to swap back.

Wrexham did ring me earlier this week a little sheepish to ask if I still had that Kia they gave me?? If I’d had a moment to consider I’d have told them I sold it :ROFLMAO: apparently it was a “stock check” I bet it wasn’t well documented and someone had to find said Kia heh.

So I’m betting on 2-3 weeks, although I’ve now started to NOT fill the tank entirely just in case heh. But I can at least keep an eye on when the car moves to Wrexham with the app.

One of the bits I’m most looking forward to is running the heating off of it in the day on cheaper kWhs ;) bloody electric bill went UP when I got a dino burner AND had to put fuel in it
Hey ho, almost there.

Just handed over the car to the insurance company's "preferred" repairer, whom they insisted I use, despite having already gotten an estimate from our local Chips Away, who appologised that it would take 3 to 4 days. Local ABL 1-Touch picked it up, then said they were shipping it to Sevenoaks and it would take at least a month. It is only a scrape on the rear corner, due to tiny parking spaces in the Hospital car park.

Interesting conclusion, claim from the hospital if this is the case o_O

No wonder insurance premiums are so high. I assume they are supplying a courtesy car?

I DID indeed get mine back eventually, 10 months! On the plus side I hope I forever hold the record for duration of repair so that nobody else has it as bad.

Fingers crossed for speedy returns of your wheels. Insurance claims seem a rigged system, a bit like American healthcare. They own the repairers and have no problem overloading them and slowing it all down.

What, you got your car back from Hyde?
Yup, got a phone call informing me they’d fitted the last of the parts they had been waiting on and it was going to be shipped back to Wrexham where I could arrange pickup. Got a call later that day from Wrexham and I dashed about and got it picked up 3 minutes before they closed ☺️

Hope the foot gets better quicker than my car did. Least you won’t have to wait on spare parts from China 😂

Thank you so much.

It is!

But the Physio treatment is a lot slower.

Since I broke the foot, I have literally placed one foot on the ground for a minute max. IDK why they are so slow.
I feel like a bed blocker when I could be so much closer to going home.

Gotta do what you need to do to recover. Rushing it is no good but I doubt I could be a particularly patient patient either.
Make sure not to overdo it but I suspect once you’ve got some healing done the physio will give you exercises to do while they aren’t around so you can put in more time but unless it’s healed then you can undo any fixing that has been done.

Hope you’ve got some better entertainment than just this forum 🤪

Trimalleolar fracture.

One fracture at the base of the tib at the side. One fracture at the base of the fib at the side. And another at the base of the tib at the rear where we can't see.
