What is wrong with your MG3-Hybrid (ONLY)

Hi Haydn,
The first question would be, what have the weather conditions been like, where you live and commute, particularly the temperature? The next question would be, has there been any difference between your journeys, i.e. have you been doing more short runs recently? I assume that the dealer has asked you all of this already as fuel consumption can take a hit during cold temperatures and the battery is less likely to kick in.
Hi my journeys have been the same,as always. The dealer is just blames the weather. It seems alot to drop off. They didn't tell you, it's a summer hybrid car. I have now increased the MPG slightly. By driving in eco mode.

I wouldn't call it a Summer hybrid, its just that all Hybrids will act the same in this weather as batteries perform less efficiently in the cold weather. This couple with the fact, that you will be using the heating, lights and wipers more will also impact on how quickly the batteries charge will be depleted, leading to the combustion engine having to fire up more. Here too, you will see that combustion engines are less efficient in cold weather, so this will also impact on fuel economy.
In fact every form of propulsion will be less efficient in the cold, petrol, diesel, BEV, and hybrid. Its probably less noticeable in a petrol or diesel with a fuel tank of 50 litres compared to the 36 litres in the MG.
It is frustrating, especially when you can see it so vividly on the driver display but when the weather picks up and the days get brighter your fuel economy should improve . Eco mode will help to some degree.

Hi Ash, how many miles on each?

Today was a longer journey with an outside temp of 7 to 10 degrees, and the mpg jumped back up to an overall 56, from the low 40s during that below freezing cold snap. The car also started and ran on EV only for a while, for the first time in days. The short, 2 miles or fewer runs it has been doing, in freezing temperatures, have been with the engine running constantly.

A Motorama review of the MG3 Essence Petrol, non hybid give it an mpg of 6l per 100km, which is 39mpg, which is 5mpg less than I was getting during the cold snap.

Hey guys, has anyone else noticed any issues with the infotainment screen not always turning on when starting the car. I bought the car for my parents back home and they tell me sometimes the screen fails to turn on. Dealership has been useless..I'm wondering if it's something they're doing wrong or whether it's a known bug?

Thanks!

I haven't heard of a bug, but like any new car, it's possible that there is a fault with your parent's car. The only time I have had a blank screen is when the car is connecting to Android Auto on start-up, and momentarily there will be a blank screen. Other than that, it should fire up straight away.
