Would you buy an MG 4 again?

Never again. After sales is an absolute joke. MG4 Trophy leaking from the rain all over the front passenger seat and they can't look at it until 12 April.

I leave the air conditioning on all the time as it is a dehumidifier and removes the mist from the inside of the car on cold days and warm humidity on warm days. I just set the temperature I want and if the air needs directing to the wind screen to demist the press the demist button.

I'd be interested to learn where you took it. My earlier ZS EV experience with the East London dealer prompted me to take it to Milton Keynes - where the aftersales was amazing!

I have had my mg4 for a year having bought it second hand with 4000 miles on the clock.
I have put 10,000 miles on it since then and apart from a few software glitches solved by an update during its first service its been great.
Would I buy another one? Well if the LKA was fixed then yes

I've had mine for little over a year, done 12k miles in it. I suffered with software glitches, and finally had it updated during its first service. It's a completely different car. Would I buy another one - not until they support over the air updates, this is a show stopper for me.

I've had mine since Oct 22 and put 30000 miles on it .
I would buy another .BUT there is so much stuff coming out over the next couple of years that I will do some serious shopping which I didn't when I bought the 4 as it was so price competitive .
Same here, but I do reckon that it will be another 10 years until I need to consider another car.

Mine is now a few weeks shy of a year old with 15,000 km on the clock. I've had no issues with software but it can be a bit laggy at times & had the undertray fix done in January. My first service is not due for another year. The car is OTA capable but MG have not allowed this yet. I wonder if/when they will as it would certainly resolve some gripes. Part of the issue is that Dealers wouldn't get their cut if OTA was enabled.

I have certainly not regretted my purchase & will keep it at least to the end of its warranty in 2030. The software update for route planning has finally been released (originally promised in October 2023) & that would be handy but not essential. Even without this I can still find all of the Charging stations within range but not as part of the planner.

Yes it’s brilliant, apart from the BLOODY LKA and FORWARD COLLISION if that’s not fixed or eased back I wouldn’t but then i expect other brands would be similar????

Yep, I’d buy again without hesitation – and I have an early model (no centre rear headrest, no rear windscreen wiper, 17” wheels on the equivalent of a Trophy). On the other hand, the new MG dealership that’s opened up in our nearest town is brilliant – the young guy who manages the workshop is amiable, responsive and... honest!

It’s a great car, the LKA is a pain (but it is on all modern cars, how people think this is a good idea I really don’t know – except that my father-in-law, who drives an MG5, appears to like it!). Occasional software glitches, but nothing that’s stayed problematic. Brilliant and comfortable to drive!

No.
The dealership is part of MG Benelux and this company simply ignores its customers,
So I still have software that does not work as demanded by EU law (lka). ACC dropping speed (not in bends), and a persitent increase of vibration above 100kmh. The hands free unit does not read telephone numbers correctly. The aircon is stupid with its on/off behaviour and its 5 degrees offset (though econ mode seems to minimize effects). An undertray looking sad..

Apart from that, the power consumption is less than favorable. Including load losses I need more than 17 kwh/100 km. Other brands are much better. This counts since I drive a lot. And many alternatives are available. So no need to go for poor service and qc.

Probably the most important reason not to go with MG is because I will not buy again at all. Until EU sorts out its mess with car brands and NCAP starts doing real testing, and EU allows for direct claims if your car fail to comply with EU law. Now I have to go through a whole bunch of steps to collect paperwork/ evidence, visit comittee meetings where my case will be judged, and pay upfront for the whole process...

The car is fine, apart from a few things to disable ( which I would have to do with any newish car )but it has just taken 3 weeks to attempt and finally achieve to book it in for its first service. The MG dealership shares the premises with Nissan who provide the workshop and mechanics . If Sam Evans on YT is accurate Nissan are in deep doodah which could mean dealerships closing which in turn would close my local MG dealership which leaves me high and dry or having to travel 100 km to the next closest who have even by MG standards a poor reviewing profile. So sometimes events can coincide to take future decision making out of your hands. Until there is a good independent network of EV specialists who have access to genuine parts ( which will eventually happen ) for our models being tied to a marque and cartelish dealer/manufacturer network is always going to be problematic with regards to customer service . If you sign a contract with the devil expect a bit of pain, which I guess is not entirely MG related, but in our cases is.

Yes.

12 months in and a couple of issues notwithstanding, which were both eventually, sorted to my satisfaction.

Even found a dealer with a 'can do' attitude and good old customer service.

Being an XPWR, I do still occasionally notice some vibes.

But to be fair they have now become so unobtrusive, as to be unobtrusive.

Mad I know.

My friend, @Doug C has none, others have some.

Software to R59 means I still switch off the LKA on my way out, but even if I forget, it seems to have lost the aggressive attitude it once had.

Using Android Auto is what works for me, and whatever I request, whether it be 'put on radio 2' or navigate to so and so, is just so easy by holding down the voice button.

The drive is so smooth and quiet.
Effortless and serene, it really is a joy to pilot about.

Easy to park and manoeuvre even in the tightest spots.
Practical, handsome, 'striking', someone said to me the other day.

I've not owned a car for many, many years that's been photographed as much by members of the public either.
Some surreptitiously, some brazen!

Always happy to oblige.

My own car being the X Power is also the fastest to 60mph in the World (Dragy Worldwide Leaderboard) with a still unbeaten 3.51 0 to 60mph time.
(To be clear..... of the MG X Powers)

Oh, and a still unbeaten 11.84 quarter mile time.

Not sure I've mentioned that anywhere on here before? ?

This car will also double up as my own personal power station as I am off grid, and will give my LPG Generator a bit of a breather this year.

Cheap to run, service and insure, easy on the tyres (I know!!) I can see myself in this car for at least another year, no bother at all.

I mean, what else can do all that for £25K?
Bargain.

Do you think it's the colour? Because it's almost a sleeper, not much different looking from other MG4s, but people aren't generally running around and photographing our cars.

Oh, and I missed the bit about how you got the car for £25,000.

The colour is a massive talking point, people I talk to generally have no clue about the performance. Everyone from the postie, Amazon delivery drivers, friends and family all have an opinion on the colour. I think it's swung to about 70/30 like it now, it was 50/50 to begin with.

Well that's what it's worth now and realistically what you can pick one up for.

Definitely the colour first, then caliper covers second to confirm they have seen an X Power!

There is a dash cam screen grab in a post here somewhere of the last bloke taking pictures of my car.
