I will never buy another MG ever again ?

You had the vibration problem with a non-Xpower?
The vibration issues TBH might have been in my head ? as I didn't drive it much after I kept getting tire pressure warning messages, and quickly traded it in for an X-Power, which has been fine at motorway speeds (touch wood)

On a side note I dread to think what the renewal quote for Insurance will be next time ?

Just going to fast forward this chat to its logical conclusion...

You can’t tire of that sketch it was nearly perfect. I say nearly because I’m currently living on an almost deserted island in a discarded snail shell on the roof of a much berated (by the uneducated) Chinese station wagon with half a battery of power insufficient to get me home. No charge point within half a mile and I don’t think that tractor has VtoL. The wind’s blowing a hooley and is the soul reason my rig’s rockin’ fit to scratch the door handles. I sincerely hope I’m heavy enough to weight it all down. Cardboard box? Luxury- at least it was near the ground ?

Is there any better (value for money) alternative to MG at the moment?
The Ora Cat is quite good value. BYD also; it's arguable as to whether BYD or MG is better value for money.

Soon: Chery, Zeekr, and no doubt others. All the high value for money brands are Chinese at present. I haven't looked at Vinfast (Vietnamese) as yet.

It is worth highlighting that besides value, the MG4 is absolutely streets ahead of not only most other EV's but also most ICE vehicles, I enjoy every time I drive it.

I love my Xpower, but is not streets ahead of other EVs. All ICE cars yes, but software features way behind Tesla, Zeekr. BYD, Xpeng, Xiami. However, amazing value and no doubt software will great improve with next gen vehicles.

Is it really behind on features?

I get what you are saying about software quality and updates but I don't perceive a lack of features.

I'm afraid so, just looking at the bigger (15+") screens for the leading players, you can see plenty along with quality, fast responding interfaces. But specifically, navigation / integration with chargers, their utilisation (mainly Tesla), MG is totally hopeless on native music playback, very basic phone integration, I just stick to CarPlay. slow interface, slow boot (which should be faster wake from sleep mode). Auto Wipers unavailable, many Tesla only features like Sentry monitoring, dog mode, OTA updates unavailable & updates in general are limited, paid for unless under warranty, basic & intermittent unreliable mobile App (getting better, I would never trust it as a digital key). No profiles for different drivers. That's just a selection I know about. Other makes have far better ADAS features & Navigation. You see Tesla features add every month keeping their cars current, which is where MG must get to.
However, it's still a great value car, good looking car, winning car of year award, with the core functionality you need, just not as complete and refined as others, but will get there, as it must given the insane competition.
The Xpower is best bang for buck ever, especially major discounts on ex-demo models. Just check out the brands I mentioned - Tesla (new model 3), Zeekr (all their cars look amazing), Xpeng, BYD (2024 Seal is amazing), Xiomi (SU7 Max is amazing).

I like the smaller screens, don't see the point of the huge displays like in the Teslas which are ugly imo. Less is more but there again, I have no need for bluetooth, carplay or phone interfaces and certainly not any form of voice commands.

Larger screens make for better interfaces and easier touch controls, so in this case more is more. I haven't even tried any voice commands, but suspect it's very subpar, given other software standard.

The thing i dislike about Tesla, which i never considered before getting one was the OTA updates can also make things worse.
They have changed a few bits of the interface over time and i dislike some of them but have no say in the matter.

Ah... lots of stuff I don't care about. Yes, Teslas have tons of features, many gimmicky, but most other makes do not. And I wouldn't want a Tesla anyway because of their stupid button-and-stalk free approach to human interaction design and lack of CarPlay, driver's screen, etc...

Yes, the boot up is slow but the response is good with updated software. OTA would be a boon. Mobile app works for me and does what I need. No interest in a digital key, seems pointless. Not interested in car navigation as I use CarPlay. ADAS features could be better but work well enough for the ones I care about (blind spot detection and ACC).

I don't need a bigger screen, I can read the ones I have.
