Xpower as a hot hatch

This looks nice as a warm hatch Check out the new GWM Ora 03 GT
Australia has had the Ora GT for a long time, but it's only looks. Good looks, IMO, but only the same power as the base model.

Had there been a real GT, with AWD (or even RWD) and some poke, I'd have been very interested. I was really impressed with the Ora - much nicer inside than the MG4, but next to Essence 64 (mid range) and above MGs, it felt... not gutless, but a bit underdone. Then I drove the XPower. 😳🤯

A review test drive of an XPower by the bloke who is doing a Porche 928 repower using an MG ZS what ever they are, the FWD MG EV. You get to see some interesting country roads and a bit of vertigo thrown in ;)

Also interesting that after doing the initial review he had to buy one (and the fact MG Australia slashed the prices helped)

Megalong Valley is about 30min from my home. One way in, one way out. It's very tight in sections - tight enough that I'm faster through there on a small moto than a larger more powerful moto, let alone a car. I haven't taken the XPower down because of the tight sections. That said, there are a few lovely little stretches that would really suit the XPower. The descent to end of the drivable part of the valley is only about 16km (10 miles) and most of the footage (all the rainforest) is from the 8km of descent and flats to the tea rooms.

They scored surprisingly little traffic, too. Even on a weekday it's usually popular. I usually have to play elastic bands - catch up, stop or go really slow, catch up, stop [repeats] 😂

Also surprising, no roadworks. Little landslips causing road closures are common.

I was thinking it was a pity they didn't take on Macquarie Pass or the Jamberoo Mt Rd or Kangaroo Valley road, that would have really tried out the one pedal driving, adaptive regen and if the brakes smoked  I think the passenger/owner would have needed a full change of clothes and seat upholstery if they's tried driving like that down any of those roads

So he picked up a 1000 mile car for a smidge over 20K!!! (£)

Staggering value.

Still not as quick as my 1/4 mile time of 11.84.
Good effort none the less! 🤣

It's always great to see a driver enlightened to just how good an EV can be, especially the X Power.

I enjoyed an earlier episode that I watched with a recommendation on here some time ago. (December 2023!!!)

Local dealer has an Orange one for 22k been there a while so i reckon they would be open to an offer.
This was originally one of their demonstrators - I drove it and it had chronic vibrations - probably why the owner they sold it brought it back after very few miles!

Shame they didn't add this vibaration characteristic to the ad, seeing as MG UK think it is so desirable to mimic high performance ICE cars 😂😉
