Xpower as a hot hatch

Relevant to the topic - tldr - yes

I think the only thing I'm slightly miffed about is that the "Professional driver" didn't have "Sport Mode" engaged at any time during his drive. (AFAICS)*
The torque vectoring they kept mentioning can really be felt if you are in Normal mode when asking for power.

You can feel the front motor engage and give a very slight "tug" at the front.

If I'm "playing" I engage Sport Mode to get a consistent feel throughout the car and then dont get the shuffling of power that he was feeling.

I've always said it's a Hot Hatch, and for me (IMO) it is the perfect balance between everyday day usability and performance for the road.

How do you other X Power drivers feel about it?

P.S. Looks absolutely stunning in Camden Grey ?

Like you I feel it is a great compromise, not too harsh a ride, good comfort, great performance, good grip and traction, great practicality, superb value and just a great all rounder.

For me it just qualifies as a hot hatch when comparing to other heavier AWD ICE cars such as the older RS3's and Golf R's. It's oviously a heavier car than ICE hot hatches and the "chuckabilty" factor is'nt quite there so is more suited to "curvy" roads rather than really "twisty" ones. I think the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Acoustics will only improve this.

However on A and B roads with sweeping bends it is right up there IMHO with the best ICE hot hatches with its instant torque and traction to power out of the bends and gap nearly everything behind you ?.

Like you I use Sport mode (via Custom menu) for any spirited driving to keep that front motor in play all the time and minimise any delay in distributing the power and torque vectoring to the best wheels.

I think they liked it ?

Excellent video, anyone seriously thinking about an MG X Power, and only watched this excellent video, as opposed to the claptrap very amateur videos that's knocking about, would almost certainly buy an X Power, and pretty sure they wouldn't be disappointed. ??

Beautifully put @JonnyG!

Did the "professional driver not mention the vibration issues ?
You won’t notice it when driving a back road as you’re up and down through the speed it’s a motorway/cruising issue only IMHO. I never notice it on anything other than motorways/long dual carriageways. Even when I notice it it still doesn’t bother me. I test drove to validate that before I purchased so I knew what I was getting.
(Same with the other foibles that annoy people, I might be miffed if I hadn’t read about them on here and accepted them before pushing the button)

Just put on some Toyo R888 and let’s close this topic. ??
?
I have been soooo tempted to pop on some Pilots, but have held off because I don't want to "cloud" any fix???

But saying that If I do go for it and cure the vibes, there's a whole slog of trying to prove the original tyres are defective/flat spotted in transit, blah blah blah and trying to get some dosh out of MG.

On a side note, anyone got MG Smart 2.0 to bloody work??
Just endlessly going round and round on the bind screen.
F-ing Infuriating.
Edit....working now?

OT but are you logged on using the same account?
The car is bound to an account not the phone.
Some have logged in with phone number instead of email or viceversa and not got into the correct account as a result.

Finally working on both Ipad and Android phone, no longer asks me to login and stays in miles. Have never been asked to rebind even when having other issues. Just keep persevering and it just seems to right itself. Anyway soon be Christmas….

Unbelievable!!!!
Kept at it,
uninstalled,
reinstalled,
factory reset (x3)
Went to get a coffee, came back.
Did it all again (cos I'm a persistent bugger)
And at last succeeded!

Don't know what I did differently, but hey ho, working now.
Only been about an hour.

I would have been really miffed to have lost the remote heating function.

Luxury.
?

Whats that…..
Are you serious m8?
